Think they might have a point, given one of the 'hilarious' offerings from social media was adding in the children's dead grandmother in the background.

Without looking back, or at all, I assume The S*n were against the Sussexes having any right to privacy?

I hope you are not expecting consistency from the Sun.

much of the fuss is the british press desperately seeking sales/clicks by (mostly) reporting a story of their own construction because they're gagging for kate news
palace pr minions released a clumsily doctored photo without disclosing it was a manipulated image
reputable press agencies noticed and recalled it, they are trying to prevent doctored/fake images entering the trusted distribution chain - that's a good thing, they behaved exactly as they should
without seeing the original, it's impossible to know the motivation for what was done
not immediately releasing the original now only fuels speculation, pr should know this
if the palace pr minions messed up, that's where the attention should be focussed, it's their job to avoid this sort of thing

Square that with Kate saying it was her photo, and her editing.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

If that was the case, maybe she'll have learnt that there is a place in this world for experts.

"What did Catherine say? The princess posted a brief apology on social media for what had happened to the picture. "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing," she said. Royal sources described her changes as "minor adjustments"."

But but, this world, sorry country has had enough of experts...

It's not to say that experts don't get things wrong, frequently, but at least then she'd have someone else to blame.

easy, who took it/tweaked it is irrelevant, she can do it all day and no one will ever know or care, certainly not me
but that's not the point i'm making
it's reported that it was palace people who released the image to the agencies
clearly it's their job to know what they're handling
they should be competent both to be aware of the increased scrutiny of images, and to recognise such obvious manipulation, then discuss/decide whether to withhold or to issue with disclosure that it's been manipulated (for some stated reason)
aside from catching things like this, they should be assessing images for sensitive information leakage, whether visual or in metadata, and making sure it's clean
they seem to have done none of that, just sent it on

This is true. Makes you wonder why she is the one making the apologies. It would be best all round if it just went away.

I think she was put in a position where she had to by someone else not doing their job properly. I'm still not convinced the editing was her work but either way I suspect there is someone from the Kensington Palace media team looking for a new job.

I find this the easiest bit to believe. Photography is something you can do out of the public view. It's an excellent hobby for a royal. Much in the same way as King Charles did a lot of gardening. Neither are able to have hobbies like cycling, golf, going to the cinema, coffee with friends etc. She's also published a lot of photos in her name.

Most likely.

I don't doubt it was their own photo, I just don't see her having edited it herself (especially not if it was to put in a head from a magazine article as some have claimed).

yes, i'm no royalist, but it's not down to her, she did nothing wrong
imo the press are choosing to make it about her as that generates way more clicks/ad revenue than a story about inadequate checks/controls in the palace machine

Again, so why did she become the "fall guy" and apologise? Send some lackie packing. Bored now...

I don't care and am surprised anyone else does !

I don't think any of us care too much, but how it happened is still mildly intriguing. Cock-ups are usually interesting.

You all think she posted the apology herself? Not done on her behalf by KP PR?

It was in her name. Either it was her or someone's getting the boot.

Seems odd that William took the credit for the original photo but Kate too the blame for the editing? They had the Queen being photo'd right up to her demise to show us she was ok. Charles is regularly being shown meeting the PM etc to keep us assured. So, how bad must Kate be?, or is she refusing to play?

Hopefully she's ok but you have to think there's more to it than they are letting on.

So turns out they found Kate had cancer following the surgery and that’s what’s behind the lack of public appearances.

Wish her a full recovery. 42 yo.
Difficult time for the family with Charles's diagnosis too.

Yes hopefully she makes a full recovery.

I wonder if their hands were forced by the attempted data security breach at the hospital.
I guess better to front up in that case, but its shameful that people are willing to stoop so low.

Wish her all the best but have to wonder if it would have been easier for all concerned to come clean from the start.
Anything to raise awareness is a bonus too,
