Hope your wrist is better soon, Derek. Good photo of the chute, by the way.

I take it that it's not a definite scaphoid fracture or I'd have thought they'd have you in a cast. It's often just sprained but they splint it and re X-ray it in case there is a fracture that didn't show up clearly on the initial X-ray. Hopefully that'll be the case with you too.

Not sure Hamish. They were pretty vague about it, to be honest.

Vague is good.
It means that there was nothing definite to see on X-ray. As I mentioned earlier, it's standard practice to splint, re examine and re X-ray it in about 7-10 days. It's usually sprained and it's just a case of gentle exercise, but if it's fractured then the splint will have been helping things. Fractures tend to show up much more clearly the second time around due to the blood supply of that bone.
Hopefully you'll be alright though. And good effort for riding the rest of the trail after that!

Thanks for taking the time to explain that, Hamish. I'm now a bit happier that it might not be as bad as I'd feared.
Cheers.

What Hamish hinted in that last post, was that because you're getting on abit, they've allowed you the full 10 days so your body gets that bit more time to attempt to sort itself [8)][;)][:D]
I'm sure you'll be back out on your bike in no time, and try not to over indulge with all the sympathy you'll be able to get now [;)]

You'll be back on the bike before you know it, Derek.
By the way, which would you say is the hardest between the chute on McMoab or the Terrible Twins?

On the basis that I cleaned the chute and have failed spectacularly on the Twins on two separate occasions, you can probably work out the answer for yourself!!! [:(][;)] The chute I'd say is more challenging in the mind. The Twins are more challenging both technically and in reality.
