Just to clarify, I don't think I can really come. First of all I can't be fucked to train, second I want to save my money for uni and stuff so I don't want to waste money on a new set of Edisons which I'll use once, plus I don't reckon I'll be allowed to go to Shropshire or wherever with a bunch of guys I don't know.

HOWEVER, a few guys from work sound interested in doing Mountain Mayhem so I may see you there if I can get something sorted out with them.

Just browsing last years results, it looks like an average lap time of 38 minuets was the winning time. That said a lot started at sub 35 minuets and were putting in times closer to 60 minuets at the end.

I assume we would just enter into the "sport men" catagory.

Yep, "Sport Men" would be the best catagory for us.

TBH, what you will find is that as the event progresses, you will do a couple of laps, then try a 'fast' lap or two, and then completely die due to lack of enough food and ride a lot slower.

Lap times in the dark will be slower anyways.

Which, all points to endurance over out and out speed. We will need the team's lap average to be pretty constant for the whole 24 hours.
