The black edition have bladed spokes... don't see the point of going for deep rims and then having round spokes... bladed spokes are notoriously expensive

Yup and so have the £50 cheaper Hunts (and all the others in the same price range).

Bladed vs round spokes will make a difference, but a tiny one and certainly nowhere near of the level of a modern wide deep section rim vs standard aluminium shallow rim. If you want to get aero, most people will have lower hanging fruit to spend that £250 difference in price over the base models on on e.g. clothing, handlebars etc.
Wheels are over rated, you maybe can gain 10 watts, which is probably the equivalent of training yourself to go one cm lower with your head. Most people on deep wheels can’t even ride on the drops or in any remotely aero position for more than 5 minutes

That's harsh, although I've seen a couple today that would fall into that category. Rather like mini-skirts on a fat lass, there should be some sort of entry criteria for purchasing. Maybe some sort of waistline-to-height ratio.

True but is that worth another £200-£250?

There was a guy back in the 1970/80’s Bennet? Who could ride a 52 minute 25 mile time trial and had a massive gut. I think he could have justified having deep rims if they had been around then.

I remember the guy you mean. Can't remember the name. Sure he got the 24h title one year, mid/late eighties.

I think he raced as young man then become a bit of a drinker, managed to kick the booze into touch then started racing again.
Paul Porky Bennett apparently started his come back weighing 18 stone.

Had never heard of him but an interesting story - former British 25 record holder - lost his job as a brewery representative due to alcoholism - kicked alcoholism and made a come back.. It's a good basis for a British film.
