Prime Carbon Wheels

Never had a pair of Hunts personally so no experience of them at all but I do think they are expensive for what they are.
IMHO they are just very well marketed.
I'm not saying they are a bad wheelset, far from it & from what I've heard their aftercare / customer service is very good but for me I think there are better VFM options out there.
Prime have been teasing stuff on their Insta over the past few days so maybe there is a new range coming out & that would part explain their lack of stock.2 -
I heard it was ultegra, and they were in fully matching club kit. May even have been London Dynamo.N0bodyOfTheGoat said:

I bought some and they were just fine.MattFalle said:

nothing wrong with pointing out to people that just as good/better products are available to them at a cheaper price.
why? are you sore that you bought sone or do you just love the brand?
There might be better wheels for the same money, or similar wheels for less money, but that can be aimed at several other brands as well.0 -

"Ripped off" is a tad harsh.
Overpriced? Maybe depending on your point of view but not sure that they are a rip off.0 -
fine. thats the word we're looking for. not great, spell blinding, amazing, etc, just fine.singleton said:

agreed, but if people ask a question it has to be answered honestly so other people don't make the same mistake..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

The RR50's are actually cheaper than the 38's & are in stock.
Wiggle also do a tubeless bundle of the 50's & although that's OOS it's the same price as the 38's which seems a bit mental to me.0 -
Let's not get carried away.MattFalle said:

Di2 I can live with. Discs, no way0 -
Glad someone picked up on that 😂shirley_basso said:

That would depend on the size of the pothole - and how hard you hit it. Same for any wheel..kingrollo said:Would they survive a squabble with a pothole ?

Any suggestions for disc rotors to fit ultegra ?0

Or these as an alternative to the primes - look nicer and could use exising rotors

probably made in the exact same factory from the same bits as the Primes, and Hunts, tbh.kingrollo said:Or these as an alternative to the primes - look nicer and could use exising rotors

if you like the look of them easier to transfer the rotors across and prices work out, then why not? will undoubtedly come with all the same junk in the box as well.
if they arrive and you don't like them, just send them back.
have you checked out Planet X as well? I've had some of their 50s for about 10 years now: apart from one bearing change that cost a tenner for the pair light, roll well, never gone out of true..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Went for the Merlin's

MF won't like this but I'm really enjoying my hunt 50mm RB wheels. I'm not going for pure performance, but they do a good job and look amazing on my bike.2

Have the rr 50 primes, shiny decals which I took off. No complaints, 2 years, no maintenance yet. Not noticed too much with headwinds. 500 with Hutchinson tyres and tubes. I'm 85kg odd, running 25s on them, with try 28s next time though. Looked at others from corima/zipp, but much more experienced men said wasn't worth extra expense. I think i asked on here as well, that opinion was backed up. Nice sound too. Hope this helps0

But back to the OP's question, I had some Prime RP-38s and they were excellent. No issues with them whatsoever, and they were a HUGE improvement on the stock wheels they replaced.1

I’ve a set on my summer bike. They’re decent aero wise once you get going, not too twitchy with gusts (we get lots of those in Norfolk!). The one downside is braking in the wet (I have rim brakes) in that they’re virtually useless when proper wet. Once got caught in a heavy downpour which rendered my brake levers pretty much pointless. Check the met office app carefully I guess!1

Luckily you live in Norfolk then if you brakes don’t work.the_duke_of_hazard said:I’ve a set on my summer bike. What pads do you have?
I see they get supplied with some but I've used Swissstop for ages & was thinking of a pair of them.0 -
Swissstop yellows. I should point out this was a proper biblical, animals go in two by two deluge with standing water on every road.ibr17xvii said:the_duke_of_hazard said:I’ve a set on my summer bike. Like i said - normal conditions they’re perfectly good.1
