That’s not what you said.the_duke_of_hazard said:ibr17xvii said:the_duke_of_hazard said:I’ve a set on my summer bike. They’re decent aero wise once you get going, not too twitchy with gusts (we get lots of those in Norfolk!). The one downside is braking in the wet (I have rim brakes) in that they’re virtually useless when proper wet. Once got caught in a heavy downpour which rendered my brake levers pretty much pointless. Check the met office app carefully I guess!

What pads do you have?
I see they get supplied with some but I've used Swissstop for ages & was thinking of a pair of them.
Like i said - normal conditions they’re perfectly good.

and, tbh, to allay the fears of the discites, they are also fine in the rain..

Am I right in thinking if I get the primes and have 6 bolt discs currently, then I need one of these (well, 2 of one of them) to convert my rotors?

Well I got a cyclsescheme voucher to get some prime wheels and by the time it arrived they'd gone up £100 to £600.
Any recommendations for a wheelset in stock from somewhere that accepts cyclesheme?- Genesis Croix de Fer

I've been watching these for weeks & they are yet to come back into stock.
The more expensive Black edition 28's are in stock if that's any use to you?

I was looking at them yesterday... I think the cheaper ones have double butted spokes, as opposed to aero spokes, which is a bit of a let down... but then again, they are still very good value at 500 quid or so. For aero spokes, you need the Black Edition onesleft the forum March 20230

Would tbere actuslly be any noticeable difference though?.

The point is that if you invest in deep carbon rims, you do so for the speed (or at least I would)... so you would also like bladed spokes.MattFalle said:Would tbere actuslly be any noticeable difference though?
I guess I'll keep trying to get my back stretched out lower...left the forum March 20230 -
On my Prime black 60s, I can cycle at 60 kph for about 4 hours. Never popped a spoke.
On my previous Prime RR 50s, I could only cycle at 15 kph for 17 minutes. I also popped a spoke once.
Seriously though, I have really liked all the Prime wheels I have had, all disc versions though.2 -
this is the truest thing ever posted and if anyone disputes it as being FACT i will come round and quite happily fight themrick_chasey said:
Of course. Your head will think "oo, bladed spokes, wheels will go more whoosh" and thus, there is more whoosh.MattFalle said:Would tbere actuslly be any noticeable difference though?

I'm typically racing folks who have a 90mm front and a disc rear... so I would be outwhooshed anywayMattFalle said:

Having looked around a fair bit, £600 still seems to be a decent price. Just a shame it's not £500!- Genesis Croix de Fer

The rim brake 38's have been OOS for ages now.
I'm tempted by the 50's as they are in stock but they are deeper than I ideally wanted.
I struggle to control 42's in a strong crosswind as I'm on the light side so not sure how I would cope with 50's.
The 28's are in stock but they aren't deep enough.0 -
Primes are pretty wide U shaped rims (27.5mm) which are supposed to give better crosswind handling than older narrower V shaped. It also means that visually they look much less deep - my 38s look pretty shallow on the bike. I would definitely go for 50s if I were buying another set... However when I bought the 38s were in stock not the 50s. I'm only 67kg and have no issues whatsoever in crosswinds - doubt an extra 12mm will make much difference.ibr17xvii said:The rim brake 38's have been OOS for ages now.

Can get a pair of 50mm Edcos for the same price and they are apparently really stable and easy in crosswinds.1

That's really interesting thanks, I will consider the 50's then. I'm only 64kg so I was worried they'd be too much for me.
I'm looking at these for my winter bike so there's no rush.
I ride 42's on my best bike so seems a wee bit mental to have deeper wheels on a winter bike though.
I wouldn't mind a pic of them on your bike if you have one mate.0 -

I got mine from Edco-wheels.co.uk
It’s the all-road. Often a discount.
Looks smart too. All Matt black with small gloss black logo.0
