I don’t buy the argument that UAE should have gone all in for the 19 year old Ayuso on the third stage of a 7 stage race.
Almeida is only 6 seconds behind and Soler, who is in today’s break, only 30 seconds off the race lead.
Hence Ag2r are forced to work.

Dear God what awful commentary, today. Even worse than normal Kirby standards.
A total stuck record from both and just plain wrong to boot.

I don't know what they are saying, but they just mentioned Claudio Chiappucci and Pedro Delgado.

Bonus second for O'Connor at the sprint - neat.

Pace goes up and Valverde goes out the back, Carthy about to get properly dropped.

Another non event with Ineos leading the pack.

Coverage is a shambles with DePanne commentary

Bet it still made more sense than when CK turned up to commentate on the actual race you were watching though.

I still find it quite impressive when they shell quality riders out the back.

    Good racing now.

Despite wheel sucking Almeida all the way, Quintana still lost.

That’s not doing a tap, that’s attacking, which he did after following in 4th and last wheel.

Ah you never specified exactly what he did wrong. Clearly he shouldn't even have done that, because he still didn't have a fast enough sprint. Should have wheelsucked all the way.

Whatever, it's got him the leader's jersey.

That's a hell of a delay on their feed
Maybe Delgado just turned up for the prologue.

Don't these youngsters know that when attacking on a climb you should be in the drops?

Yes, thanks to "fast man" Higuita's sprint!

He got lucky today, in so far as Almeida had a second agenda. Otherwise, that group would have definitely stalled and O'Connor might well have clung to the jersey, with no further uphill finishes.
As it stands it's nicely posed for Sunday's usual Barcelona-Montjuïc circuit.

Tulett, Sheffield and Plapp have all won for Ineos this season. They were all born in the 21st century.

Not a lot to recommend today's stage. Given the lack of sprinters in the race, the likelihood is that a breakaway bandit will take the spoils.

Kirby pays the price for going 5kms too soon with the hysterics and drags Smith with him.
Both calling Ethan Hayter, who is in Italia, as winner of the stage in Catalunya.
Of course, when the penny drops, Kirby blames Smith....

Go back and listen. It was Smithy who called it wrong first.

Edit: Should say I rather enjoyed the last 15km or so. The rest of it was ruddy awful.

Sheffield really seems to be quite good. Haven't seen enough of the others yet.

Shame this is not on GCN in Germany at least.

The race didn't have live coverage, but Rai's evening highlights packages are available on Tiz.
I tend to click on each "mirror", as one is usually played through YouTube. In this case MvP's stage 4 win.

    I'm a bit late posting today's stage.
It seems as if Carapaz and Higuita have got themselves up the road, 1' - 20" ahead of the peloton.
