How about starting a separate thread about public transport options and stop polluting the car thread?

    Nice

You could all move. Or only one of you could work. Or you could get a more local job.

Point stands that you are self certifying your own life choices.

I'm not actually criticising yours, just pointing out your hypocrisy.

I don’t get this at all.

I’m talking about changing the strategic focus for getting around the country away from private cars to public transport and smaller lighter, more efficient private transport (ie bikes and e-bikes) and you’re banging on about my own personal choices.

How is what I do even remotely relevant?!
why are you banging on about bikes and ebikes? that's a ridiculously stupid idea.

Oh Rick, you've slagged off all who live outside large urban areas repeatedly, and then get upset when people have a go back at you.
If you want to throw sh!t out in general, don't be surprised if some comes back.

It might really help if you didn't dismiss those who make different life choices, and make it clear from the off that your ideas only apply and are workable in large urban areas.

But then you might not get the same pleasure from winding people up......

Tbf I was, as that’s where 85% of people live, but then you lot kept banging on about the countryside and people who live like hermits 4 miles from the next building.

    ...
People who don't live in urban areas may well take it personally.

I recommend starting a new thread on transport. This one is for cars.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Re that Audi, a mate had just posted on Facebook he's thinking of getting an Audi R8 V10. He may even be serious as he's just sold a business and has history of buying fast cars - used to knock around in one of those Subaru things that dominated rallying and I remember he had a Clio Williams when they came out.

I think for me - even if I had the money for something like an R8 unless it was really pocket change something along the lines of a hot hatch would do me. I'm thinking is your R8 going to be more fun than your old Clio and why do you need to go 0-100kmh in just over 3 seconds? Maybe I just don't get it - I end up thinking of the problems - I bet it's expensive to service, could you leave it in Sainsbury's car park and how would I fit the dogs in it?

I'm with you and MF on having a practical performance car - there's something great about a daily drive that can go and corner like sh1t off a stick. Although some of the best times I've had were in my old 205GTI...

Looks like London. It would work in Edinburgh too though.

You don't need meaty for snow and you want more knobbly than in the first pic.
Perfectly suited to SW3 or Edinburgh though, and where most likely used.

its why I love TDVs M4 - lovely to drive, roomy, huge boot, mega hi-fi. Goes like shitoffashovel.

Anaconda is the same once you get it shifting. Stick 300 bhp more through it and you'll end up in every hedge you could find though....

It's a face only a mother could love, but you don't look at the mantlepiece while you're poking the fire, as the saying goes.

Also Merc have made the fatal mistake of ditching the big V8 biturbo on the C Series AMG and going 4 cylinder hybrid. BMW have a bit of an open goal here. I'll stick with my V8 for a good while, ta.

TDV had some AMG thang before the M4 and I never really got on with it - steering was v light, couldn't reeeeeally feel what it was doing when you floored it. Shittodrive through filds tbh.

M4 is just sooo planted, solid. Utterly lovely. Just digs in andfucksoff at a million miles and hour

But its horses for courses - Steveo loves his Panzer and he knows what he's talking about, so personal preference time?

IIRC yours was an old A Class AMG which were fast but a bit inert. Mine is different for sure.
