Any thoughts on the woman's first PR?

Really interested to watch this race ....

    Yep!
van Dijk seems to be the favourite in previews I've seen. Other names highly favoured are Kopecky, Norsgaard, Vos and van den Broek-Blaak (the last-named indicated a clear ambition to win P->R when it was first scheduled, but 18 months have since gone by).
Other names mentioned are Reusser, Brennauer, Deignan, Balsamo, Niewiadoma and D'Hoore (who I think is retiring after the race).
Reusser is being reserved about her chances, she very much wants dry conditions – I think the rain is due about 16:00 local time, so for the last hour.

It's been tipping down in Roubaix today aparently. I know someone doing the sportive tomorrow morning and he posted a very wet picture of the velodrome.

Even if the wind starts to dry the cobbles there will be plenty of puddles and mud.

When I went in 2018 it rained heavily overnight before the race and first thing a few sectors were submerged. A bit of sun and wind and they dried out really fast.

That can’t be an official Luke Rowe post, he’d have called them either “bathers” or “swimming toggs”.

There’s time yet, don’t panic… as sun comes out.

Arenberg always seems to be damp in the spring, is that a seasonal thing? Could it potentially be drier / less mossy this time of year if it isn't raining? All the forecasts i have seen predict wet all day tomorrow though, so suspect we're in for a wet one (at least in part).

Yep, was thinking the same. Greased has come out of hibernation so someone needs to start the spoiler thread.

Going to miss the last hour or so of the women's dammit...looks perfect.

  • Still no live pictures of the women's race, but I have found Emilia in Italian.

Just need Frenchfighter back with a comment along the lines of how Contador would’ve probably won PR now it’s in October and doesn’t impede his GT prep… and we’d almost have the old band back together.
  • Lizzie Deignan currently riding away fro the peloton, but it's still a picture blackout....

  • Who's the Belgian champ? Looked like she just caused a small amount of chaos. Riding on the verge on the left hand side, put her right hand up and went straight across the road into a ditch on the right. Through other riders.
  • Errrr…. Who’s….. errrr….. doing the….. errrrr….. ummmm…. Eurosport…. Errr commentary… errr?

I have the ad free stream, ambient only, no usual option showing on app to choose language. Is commentary on the E1 feed?

Big learning curve for the women's peloton

They need 38s on those sections!
  • Benny Hill music might be better than commentary. Riders sliding out everywhere
