Name 10 current World class English players - go on.

I don't want to state the obvious, but there's a bunch of them who drew in the final of a major tournament yesterday.
I'm pretty sure I heard on the news that they lost?

Grealish only caused problems because he was fresh and everyone else was tired.

do you honestly think Chiellini et al were worried about some bloke who plays for Villa?

Do explain why he was marshalling the team to double up on him.

I am not the biggest Grealish fan but you're being a bit silly here.
Sorry, but you were you watching the same game/tournament as everyone else on this thread?

The only thing he can marshall is the local car park when the Sunday car boot is on.

    Chiellini at the car boot?

I think he's too slow to make subs, and possibly could have done with taking Kane off, but then you are missing a key penalty taker, and it's not like the bench is full of suitable replacements.

On a far far far more serious topic, why taf are people directing racial abuse at England players?

    I just don't understand it.

They're idiots and when that many people watch a match, the number of idiots is higher.

What's the excuse for Italian fans?

much like yesterday's match, Chiellini will be running the car boot.

They don't seem to have trashed their capital city, tried to break into their stadium, fought the police, sent racial abuse to their players though do they.

or did we all miss that headline?

Surprised more isn't being made of the Jorginho tackle on Grealish. Key moment in extra time IMHO. England were looking the more energetic at that stage and weren't the same after.

Could easily have been a red, and he knew it

Yes, it looked bad and he knew it, but I think he was unfortunate to have ended up in that position, so I think a yellow was probably right.

I've started to think that the shirt pull on Saka was potentially a red as it was basically on his neck.

Either way, I don't think it would have made that much difference.

Great leader/team and they did bloody well to get to the final, much better than I thought they would. There will be the inevitable hindsight, waffle, tolls and blame.

The blokes who put their name forward to take penalties (for any nation) in that situation have some real guts. Anybody who has a crack at them clearly has learnt nothing in their life.

Idiots will be idiots every country has them.

Managed to come second out of 20 odd people on the office predictor game despite most of the others being regular football watchers and me not even knowing who half the England team actually play for these days. Prize money coming my way!

Not having a go at you personally but it annoys me the whole amateur nature of a "bloke putting his name forwards" what is wrong in practising penalties and keeping the data so that you know who the best are and that is a permanent list of the order they will take penalties. If necessary people can opt out

Southgate gave the impression that this is what they did, but I don't believe it because Saka will never be a good penalty taker.

Also worth noting that since 2006, 24% of all penalties in the premier league have been missed.

Southgate did say that's what they did. And Grealish said he wanted to take one.

Once again there were 31 million people watching the final yesterday. Only one person shining a laser.

Many things are wrong with football fans (not just English)... I don't think there is another sport where the winners enjoy rubbing it in with the losers... it's not like that in Rugby, or in any other civilised sport, where there s courtesy and respect.
I know there is a similar rivalry at the Ashes, but it's a thing between two nations, that has little to do with the sport.

Australians don't really watch football, so do you think all their sports fans are nice to each other?

It's good to know the fans who smashed up Vancouver a few years ago were simply confused football fans who accidently watched an ice hockey game.

Just in case one thought that the racists are all drunken unemployable thickos, up popped a commercial property manager presumably soon to be sacked by Savills. For more info simply google Andrew Bone Savills. Pr1ck that actually tweeted the N-word.

    They deserve no criticism...

However, how come superstars like Sterling didn't take a penalty? I mean, they should have taken responsibility ahead of a 19 year old lad...

Southgate has been very clear on this. It was he that chose the penalty takers. They didn't "put their hands up".

It's a draw... as Italian, it doesn't really feel like a win... just like it didn't feel like a win in 2006... 1982 was a win, fair and square.

Penalties are a necessary evil, not a real solution...

Sterling's missed his last 3 penalties for Man City. Grealish hasn't taken a penalty for Villa for over 2 years after missing his last.
