So I’ve been with LD for about 15yrs. I know we’re viewed like Milwall, hey-ho. Luckily BR forumites are not representative of the real world.

But why do we take ourselves ‘far far far too seriously’ based on the website?

And what do you have against commas?
Totally get the 'every club has choppers' response, and understand it...

    However...

You've certainly got (or at least did have, five years ago when I last lived daahn saaahf) more choppers commuting in London in club kit than most - including 2 or 3 muppets that come in from SW London via RP, Priory Lane, Putney Bridge and NKR and in particular one absolute whopper from S London via the A23. You probably even know who they are 😏

I've never got why anyone would commute in club kit. Apart from the fact that all club kit looks like sh1t, and is generally completely impractical for commuting, it just marks your club out for reprisals from ar5ehole drivers who don't like being overtaken in traffic.
Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

Never understood anyone wearing club kit at all, unless required for racing. A bit lemming.

It’s a cycling forum. You’ll get people on here who cycle with clubs. Got a point to make?

Yes, some choppers. Believe it or not some get asked to leave. Honestly, I get that the majority of BR forumites hate club cyclists - it’s always been the case.

I was just asking what the problem was with the club website text ( not that I wrote it, mind).

Jesus Christ you've had a sense of humour bypass.

Firstly, the chopper comment wasn't me, secondly, there's only one forumite who uses "clubbie" as a pejorative as far as I know. Also not me.

Was it you that nearly ran me off the road that day? There I was, minding my own business, tootling along through Shoreham when BOOM, peloton of LD riders swoop past far too busy chatting to notice poor old me. Not even a “good morning“.

And please don't try and drag Milwall, the mighty mighty Milwall from The Den, down to LD level....

I only asked one of the posters here what was wrong with the website copy!

If you all want to offend, go right ahead. But please don’t try and pretend it’s ‘unintentional’.

There's a difference between jestful digs and intentionally trying to offend someone. So if you are genuinely offended then sorry, though I would be very surprised if that is the case.

    Well, where do we start?

Bland. Unimaginative. Hyperbolic. Just shambolic tbh.

It seems like it has been written by somebody who has scoured the lower class modern cycling retailers such as Hunt and Dopey Millar and chosen the worst parts of their marketing designed to fluff average products the the unknowing and gullible then deep throated it down.

Its grey, grey, bland. None of it makes you inspired or smile. It actually makes you want to sell your bike and take up smoking and serious boozing with a bit of whoring on the side.

Compare it to Paragon - colourful, funny, self deprecating. They seem to be having fun, Dynamo are living in their own egos, writing cheques their bodies can't cash. Paragon members are also better looking from the looks of things.

And your kit is, well, so very clubbie. Not so much iconic as ironic.

Your "rides" section? Laughable. You're an amateur club made up of arrogant average riders. Don't patronise me.

You're not redolent of anything gritty except perhaps a hard shoulder off the M25.

Overall its a bit, well, tired and boring and badly written. It seems like its been written by a first year English under grad at a lower level polytechnic.

It's a bit serious, with the code of conduct and a bullying/mental health helpline. All good cycling clubs are far more shambolic. Bullying is dealt with by telling each other to p$ss off, and mental health issues aren't really the remit of a cycling club - this sort of thing being left to friends, family, employers and health professionals.

There is also a complete absence of discussions relating to (a) cake (b) cake stops (c) barbecues (d) any form of social activity whatsoever (e) friendly things like don't worry we won't leave you lost and stranded in the Surrey lanes if you flat on one of our friendly rides.

It is reassuring though that if you are a high-earner with suitable ambitions for your offspring, you have a professional cycling career Gant chart for review.
