Time for a pool. What are the worldwide figures for someone getting rear ended while on a turbo? I'll hazard a guess at zero. Much like this event as it happens.First.Aspect said:I love the clarification "riding outdoors" by the way. There's a bit more going on than Zwift, isn't there?

This is the same person as the mirror thread, yeah? I defo reckon it's the buns and guns putting down all that awesome power that look so darn good that attracts them all. Bang on.MattFalle said:nah fam - OP is a disc ridin' drafter droppin' kinda dude.

Sounds like the final nail in the coffin for rim brakes, best get myself looking for some new stopping power.1

Look on the bright side. Once you've sprung for a new disc bike you can draft with impunity.tetley10 said:Sounds like the final nail in the coffin for rim brakes, best get myself looking for some new stopping power.

Not only that, you can cycle head down and just concentrate on your screen looking at numbers rather than the road ahead.pblakeney said:

Numbers confuse him. Plus, the only thing he drafts is sports cars.elbowloh said:

I reckon a disc braked bicycle could outbrake a F1 car whether it was drafting you or not.pblakeney said:

I also reckon the OP would drop the F1 car if he realised it was drafting him, upcoming traffic lights or not.

I reckon he could do it without being at max effort or without using all of his braking powers.MattFalle said:

Mirror needed to know when drafting is occurring innit.0 -
Just saying - if the OP had rim brakes, this would never have nearly happened.0
-
If he had been looking at the lights rather than his power numbers...0

Could sell them as a safety feature, avoid having someone not ride into the back of you by buying the latest velocipede with rim brakes.kingstongraham said:Just saying - if the OP had rim brakes, this would never have nearly happened.

power numbers, solo training, massive wind noise due to speed, riders in a certain part of the country all hacking around only looking ahead, for hours at a go, neither knowing or caring what is behind them.
Its got it all.

I thought drafting was illegal for triathletes, do we need to report him to his federation.0

Absobloominglutely. Thing is, if someone pops up and says “you know, I don’t always find it easy to look behind me by turning my head so can anyone recommend a mirror of some sort?” Then it’s all cushty isn’t it. There’d be a short thread with a couple of ideas.MattFalle said:

But dressing it up as “I’m putting the POWER down too much to keep an eye out for traffic/signals/people so impressed by me that they just draft me all the time so I need a mirror “ is ridiculous, isn’t it? Especially since 25mph isn’t all that impressive on (probably) pretty flat roads.0 -
Why do people draft?
Cos they've caught up to the slow coach in front and are taking a breather before leaving slow coach in their dust. Don't want slow coach to be drafting innit. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Note to oneself, don’t draft any one who has disc brakes0

Are these disc brakes attached to a bianchi?1

not being a lawyer or a legal type i can't comment on the legality of spraying someone with stuff if they are behind you on their bicycle but i am fairly sure that they may well punch you repeatedly in your face and genitals should you do it.zest28 said:
I am actually considering installing a very stinky, smelly spray that I can trigger from my handlebar if people are on my wheel.veronese68 said:Get yourself a warning badge so others know you have better brakes, these were fitted to MK2 Jaguars in the 60s

Not to mention that said person has already caught you once so running/cycling away is not an option.MattFalle said:
