For symmetry, Stage 1 of the race was Groenewegen's first win since the incident

I'm very confused - watching a Belgian race while sitting here at 30 degrees in my pants

Quinn Simmons for Trek takes his first win in a lumpy Wallonia stage

Nice win that - kept on the front up the nasty finishing hill and trusted he had more power than DeWulf.

Been busy and only been following via social media snippets. So what was going on at the Tour de Wallonie? Jacobsen and Groenewegen both won two stage each and Simmons one (and GC). Great to see the two sprinters back. Bit that confused me is that when either one the other wasn't in the top 10. Which seems odd for two sprinters... Was there some sort of agreement that they would not contest the sprint against each other. Or was it just coincidence?

With the SD Worx dominance maybe we have to ask whether Women's Cycling needs a salary cap.

Just watched a bit of yesterday's stage, but I am not going to bother with the finish.
Needless to say AvDB out did Pogacar in the domination stakes, yesterday.
I have lost all interest in watching top women's racing because the Dutch women have made every race of note a forgone conclusion.
    Not today thankfully

Wallonie was a great race, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lacked a bit of decent commentary on ES.

    Seemingly very chaotic at times.

So what is 'hot headed' about Q Simmonds?

Hodge wins first stage of Tour de Ain. Usual classic Quickstep lead out.

To be a pedant, it would appear it is spelt Hodeg - even though it is pronounced (?) Hodge.

Chanced upon the last 20km of women's Donostiako / San Sebastian. Impressive win by AvV, bridge over to the lead group by the foot of the final climb then off she went.

Great to see Mollema in the top ten for the ninth consecutive edition. The most bankable thing in men's cycling.

Just catching up with both races, who on earth is the commentator for ES/GCN? I get that many don't like those who they consider overly enthusiastic but this is going the other way by several orders of magnitude.

It was Matt Rendell. Eurosport had tech problems so had to take the world feed commentary

Was Carr sent off down the road to set Powless up (and possibly have a go himself)?

Yes, he started a few sentences but never finished them and um'd and ar'd a bit.
Had he not done so much of the above, it would have been good commentary.
I would give him his due as he had no co-commentator and no Harris Bass type researcher with him plus, the live feed because of the weather was intermittent at best with very little info on time gaps etc.

With a bit more assistance, he is potentially far batter than '..this will be talked about for years... this is going down in history... we'll remember this stage forever... Kruiswickxkxchchchc... Jooléan [Alaphilippe] ...' etcetera Mr Hatch tw@t.

I sometimes wonder what the rest of the English speaking world has done to upset people on the occasions we get to experience their commentators.

Summed up by them getting CK for the Giro as though it is some kind of special treat for a big race.

To be fair, ES have been splitting stages up between Hatch and Kirby.
