Big crash in Vuelta Burgos - Bernal, Martinez, Adam Yates and one other Ineos rider all down. Worse injured looks to be an unidentified Alpecin-Fenix rider.

If the point of the race is to show off Burgos to tourists, it failed miserably. Last 15 km was a tour of the Burgos ring roads.

Alpecin-Fenix take the win, think it was Planckaert. Bardet dragged a small group away in the last, uphill kilometre.
  • Has nobody realised that the other 4th Grand Tour has started today, starring the mega team that put Ineos to the sword a couple of months ago?

The all singing and dancing Volta y Portugal, live here, for a glimpse of some good 'ol fashioned racing.

  • Arctic Race kicks off today.

Can't wait for that one :) ... possibly deserves its own thread?

Also Savoie/Mont Blanc but the highlights don't seem to be hitting GCN+ until 11th, well after the race is done. So can't really say much about that one !

On the subject of race threads, just letting folks know in advance that after the opening weekend, I won't be around for much of the Vuelta.

But you've prepared the stage spoiler threads content already, right?

What are we to expect from this arctic pedal?

    Of course....

    .....not.

I will endeavor to open proceedings and could possibly cover the last few stages, but there will be a large void in the middle.
Surely someone knows enough by now about how I plagiarize these threads.
Perhaps they would be kind enough to step into the breach?

    Kristoff

It will be exciting and cold and scenic.

Bardet takes a fine solo win in Burgos, dropped everyone over the big climb that topped out 15 kms from the line, then increased his gap, despite a little crash on the descent, to win by over 30 seconds.

Some tall chap of local origin took a flyer off the front and spoilt Kristoff's party.

All I can say is 'brrrrrrrr'.

Well positioned crash barriers in a fetching shade of blue.

Is it me or is this Arctic tour thingy a bit boring?
    The scenery is good.
I have started watching it so feel compelled to see it till the end. Something might happen.
I get a feeling some of the riders are trying desperately to get a renewed contract. Some of them would rather be somewhere else and most of them have been sent there unwillingly and there are teams intent on a last ditch, late season bid for some publicity.

And whilst I am in full whinge mode (it's soggy again and I baled out of a pedal), I thought the Olympic RR course was shyte.

I’m sure the Tour of Poland was on GCN last year but can’t see it amongst the listings. Anyone know if it’s being broadcast anywhere?

Last stage of the Norway recruitment drive was actually quite good and an interesting post race interview with the winner of the stage.

It was and has been on Eurosport for years.
This year there is no coverage in the UK. Weird.

Polish feed here with 150kms of the 1st stage to go.

  • Tour de Pologne also being shown on L'Equipe

They may have to re-jig their schedules though.
Something tells me they won't cover the remaining 86kms in 20 minutes! :D

Now with 38km to cover before next programme scheduled at 18.50 (CET) so should be time enough

    Nice finish there.
Looked like Hodeg had it, right up until Bauhaus nicked it on the line.

    Pascal Ackermann was DNF.

Some nice shots of (flat) Danish scenery.

    And Danish horses:

I think they have a KOM point coming up that is 5 metres above sea level.
