Great finish to the women's race. Perfectly timed catch after Longo Borghini had to tow her breakaway companion for the final 8km with the pair getting caught 200m from the line for Vos to take the sprint. Just a few turns by Paladin might have made all the difference.

That's the second women's race I've watched and enjoyed this week. It seems to have become far more competitive.

Graphics were confusing showing the break going into the final km with a lead they looked likely to hold then getting a 3km banner. Hopefully the leaders knew the correct distance.

    Marianne Vos. The greatest.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Looks like Bouhanni has been disqualified as the initial results had him as third then on the last list he wasn’t showing. He needs banning for this sprint.

Just saw that on Instagram, had no idea who the rider was but guessed it was Bouhanni... what on earth was he playing at??

Looks bad from the overhead. Lucky the barriers did their job, but certain deserves at least a couple of months considering his actions.

Just catched up on the womens' GW. Very different race. Know it was shorter and they didn't loop up towards the coast, maybe the wind died off. Vos is just something else. Respec'.

I thought the crowds were very big in Barcelona today.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-56556451

The gig was held as part of a research project looking at the viability of holding Covid-secure mass events following rapid-testing of guests.

It follows a similar experiment in the Netherlands last week, when fans attended a two-day music festival after showing proof of a negative Covid test.

Dylan G should kick off big time if Bouhanni isn't given a similar ban. The difference was the barriers, not the offence.

    Bouhanni's was far worse.

Doesn't he have a previous record of similar actions? That and a rep for not being a very nice chap.

Apparently Bouhanni approached Stewart afterwards and told him he "had no respect"........

Not sure what Stewart was supposed to do. Fall off and impale himself?

He's had enough chances now, really needs to get a lengthy ban. He could have ended a 21 year old's career there if the barriers had been to Polish standards.

    Yup.

On the positive side, those barriers did a great job.

Bouhanni has now issued an apology to Jake Stewart saying the collision was unintended. In the overhead shot it looks like he’s more interested in stopping Stewart than winning. It would almost seem he’s trying to get back at him for the earlier clash of shoulders. Especially when he’d said Stewart had no respect.

Not that there is anything to defend in Bouhanni's behaviour, but a ban would probably be the end of his career; self-inflicted, but nonetheless.

Treatment as per Groenewegen would seem pretty appropriate considering the degree that he deviated from a straight line sprint. Obviously in this instance the consequences were negligible barring Stewart's inability to take part in the final sprint for the line but he was a hair's breadth from a potentially big crash.

I honestly think the peloton should forget the uci and police this themselves the old fashioned way. Nobody would be that upset to see him accidentally put into a ditch next time he races.

It seems Stewart's hand was broken in the incident and is out of upcoming races.

I finally got around to watching the whole thing.
Stewart came past Bouhanni on his left hand side, causing him to have a bit of a wobble.
Which clearly incensed Bouhanni, as he then chased Stewart all the way across to the other side of the road, just that he could issue to coup de grâce, with the shoulder into the barriers.
    Then the "no respect" cheek.

    He's certifiable.

The old generation showing they still have something to offer at the GP Indurain. Valverde winning, LL Sanchez in third. 38 years as a pro between them.

At least LL Sanchez won't be bemoaning his luck by being second again.
