  • The ineos grenadiers... shame they're stuck with a fleet of fords while promoting their new tractor.
  • Froome's cold-blooded enough that I can believe him taking the decision to skip the Tour and try to win the Vuelta if he thinks he has more chance of actually doing something in the latter. Thomas and the Giro... less so.

That’s a good point about Froome. He can probably do a lot conditioning wise between now and then do it makes sense. He’s always liked the Vuelta to. Plus he’ll want a grab tour in the legs before next year but one where he’s not clinging on, getting dropped and unable to serve a defined role for the team.

I’m glad Thomas is doing the Giro, I’ve always wanted to see him do well in that.

    Kruiswijk out of the Tour.

    Ugh.

Unfortunately Kruisjwijk will be a non-starter due to a shoulder fracture following his crash at the Dauphine. He's aiming for the Giro instead.

Boost to my each way bet on Kuss though. 😉
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

    Told ya.
He's already down to do the Vuelta, is he not?

And not such a big blow, since yesterday morning.
    Tolhoek to step in?

Amund Grondahl Jansen brought in instead. He's a decent rouleur, so a very different rider from Kruisjwijk.

Much less likely to be so dominant in the mountains without Kruiswijk.

    I'd say it's a more balanced team.
Still has significantly more climbing strength than Ineos and you never know where you might need an extra engine.
Good as WvA and Der Panzerwagon are, one has to ask the question what happens if either abandons?

Tony Martin isn't all that anymore I think...

All the more reason to add another rouleur then...

Kruiswijk is obviously a loss - he's no slouch anywhere.

I do hope they use the dual threat of Roglic/Dumolin to send one up the road more often.

What are people's thoughts on Adam Yates? He went from winning San Sebastian and getting 4th in the Tour to not even threatening the top 10 any more in GTs. The team have said he's only up for stages in this year's race. Is he no longer a GC rider?

I think his focus has been more on week long stage races, where he's had a lot of success in recent seasons.

He is Richie Porte. Good/Great 1 week racer who usually won't admit he doesn't have it for GT's. They are the chasse patate of GT contenders.

Thomas v Kruiswijk has the making of a fun 10 days.

Throw a Yates in there too...

I think this will be a talking point in certain circles, should Jumbo do as expected and dominate the race! :D

Unfortunately I'm guilty on the eyesight. Was just mindless fun. I know it's a tiresome subject. :#
