Connor swift appears to have made the Arkéa Samsic team meaning 4 British riders in the Tour. It's not the riches of some recent years but a big improvement on when I first started following cycling in the 80s.0

nickice: The classics seem like they'll be more manageable.
Nah you haven't thought that through I mean how can hauling 22 teams around a whole country for three weeks be more manageable than some one day cross country traipse along roads only beloved by farmers

Hugo Houle was false positive for Covid as well, and is now back on the Tour team for Astana.
If it's only getting 50% right, does the test pass?"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
In fairness, no. But what are they going to do? Is this not a classic 'rock and a hard place' scenario for the organisers?blazing_saddles said:Hugo Houle was false positive for Covid as well, and is now back on the Tour team for Astana.

A false positive rate of 1% is still likely to pick up at least a couple of riders even if they only get tested once, and presumably they're already being tested semi-regularly?blazing_saddles said:Hugo Houle was false positive for Covid as well, and is now back on the Tour team for Astana.

Might well be possible that teams are more likely to be knocked out of the tour by two false positives than by two people actually contracting Covid19 though - I've always found probability quite hard so I'll let somebody else play with the possible numbers. At the least you'd hope the protocols for testing (and confirming them) are as tight as they can be.0 -
This wasn't particularly droll when I posted it but, for some reason, it needed to be approved by a moderator and took several hours to appear, so is even less amusing. Doh!DeadCalm said:

Don't they also have Basque flags rather than Spanish? I guess the team announce based on what the rider wants but doubt it will show that way in any official results.dish_dash said:

False negatives are much more likely with the current PCR swab test - I was told 25-30% by my GP (who won't let me in for a blood test even though I have a negative swab test).Lanterne_Rogue said:

As I understand it's due to how the test is taken (it's fairly unpleasant and a lot of people get it wrong) and if you take it too late or too early in the illness for it to be detected.1 -
Not only is your man riding, he's been given equal status to Alaphilippe by DQS.tailwindhome said:
