I'm pretty sure Bora are aware of how he'll do it. If a literal pro team thinks he's capable, then he is. But then people on forums always know best.

There's more to cycling than putting out power. There's the race craft that needs to be learned. Riders who switched sports like Woods, Roglic, Wurf learned it with a few years at Continental level. Going straight in WT level is a big ask.

However, (with tongue in cheek ) - having average bike handling hasn't stopped G from having success.

Not this old chestnut. Very few trackies have poor bike handling skills. Those who somehow can ascertain Thomas' handling abilities from the comfort of an armchair continue to amaze me.

That's a shame. There's plenty of worse riders than him on the World Tour.

That's a real shame, good rider coming into his prime, who maybe just needed to find his place in the team.

Skimo racers certainly have amazing engines, remember Killian Jornet only runs for skimo training ;)

You suspect he may have dabbled in pelotons over summer. Nino Schurter does a bit of (non-competitive) Ski Touring in the winter, being Swiss n 'all

AG2R say it's nonsense. I thought Beppe Conti (from whom this comes) was a reasonably reliable purveyor of transfer rumours, but doing a search it seems he's never correct. He was the source of Nibali to Ineos too.

Skier probably is not the world's worst instinctive bike handler ...bit of a learning curve thou

Looks like he may have simply had enough - and he was also out of contract.

I remember him winning that TT at the TOC too, cracking performance.

It's odd when next year is an Olympic year and with his proven talent for the track.

Not part of the Pursuit squad and wouldn't get the Omnium spot - he hasn't raced any track either AFAIK so wouldn't have any qual points anyway.

    Burnout I guess

He's definitely raced track, just not that recently: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/35731048

I guess it's the downside of being in a structured system from such a young age.

it's the old 'who's the headline star?' issue - he's been placed behind Naesen. Meanwhile Jungels is all 'who's the monument winner here?!'

Just clocked that they're going onto BMC bikes based on that sponsor logo.

    And they've signed Sue Perkins.

AG2R are going to be really strong in the cobbled classics.

    Super strong

I think the kit looks great. I like the white background, I like the striking, no fuss red/black text, I like the coloured armbands for national champs.

Oddly only the AG2R logo looks out of place in blue/brown.

With simple black shorts this could look absolutely ace. Also it's possible the Citroen chevron could look quite cool on their backsides as well.

May have to get the kit...this would be my second foray into team kit except for 2016 Denmark Rio Olympics kit.

    EDIT brown shorts!? WTAF

Do you think Naesen and GvA can work together tho?

Greg to AG2R still seems a strange one to me - can't believe he didn't have other options. A year or two with Ineos esp. now Stannard's gone?

I was going to say I quite liked the AGR kit too, and was hoping for no bl00dy brown shorts :-(

I had spotted the brown lettering on the jersey though, so feared the worst.

Brown has no place on any cycling gear imho, well perhaps mtb or gravel gear that is going to get muddy.

I don't mind that AG2R kit. Took me a couple of times seeing it to get used to it, but I think I rather like it.

James Shaw to ride for Ribble Weldtite - presumably he got Harry Tanfield's place?

Good to hear. Though listening to his interview on the Cycling Podcast I couldn't help feeling that he wasn't really doing himself any favours with his approach. Doesn't have an agent which struck me as being a bit of a flaw especially after a couple of years of struggling to sort a contract.
