given we're off topic anyway, this is closer than I'd have thought...
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Meh. BMX has a really small gear ratio so he flies off the line then spins out at about 140rpm or something nuts there, then the track bike comes flying past everyone.
Ultimately the track bike is fastest but with only one quite big gear, it takes him a while to build up a head of steam.
Don't a lot of trackies start out in BMX (at least in the UK).0 -
Over geared start"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0

Great news. I thught I'd seen him signing for a team already, must have got it mixed up.RichN95. said:Harry Tanfield to Qhebeka
" Harry Tanfield will ride in the WorldTour in 2021 after securing a last-minute contract in cycling's top flight with Qhubeka Assos.
The Yorkshire-based rider had signed with British Continental team Ribble-Weldtite after AG2R-La Mondiale decided not to renew his contract into 2021.
However, Ribble-Weldtite confirmed on Wednesday morning that Tanfield had been presented the opportunity to ride at WorldTour level in 2021 and would be allowing the 26-year-old to sign for the African team."Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Nice story all round.
Nice that Ribble found a spot for him but were keen to let him back in the WT when the chance arose.
Good luck Harry.1 -
This quote from a couple of weeks ago when he signed for Ribble -
With the current wider situation I’m delighted to have found a place at a team that can support my ambitions of returning to the highest level in the sport," Tanfield said in a statement from the team
Quite prophetic.
Great news, anyway.2020/2021/2022 Metric Century Challenge Winner0 -

I've not seen anything in the English language cycling world on why he's regressed so much. He had surgery on his iliac artery a couple of years ago, but hasn't really shown anything like his previous level since.rick_chasey said:
Has anyone written anything on what happened to him? say in procycling or something.andyp said:Fabio Aru joining Qhubeka-Assos.
Seems to be real enigma.

can only see that being for a year but get the business side esp if they pay him some money. Seems Aru is off to Assos for a year. cant see any good coming of that given his form0

I guess they may have been stuck to be able to sign anything resembling a GT contender at this stage?amrushton said:can only see that being for a year but get the business side esp if they pay him some money. Seems Aru is off to Assos for a year. cant see any good coming of that given his form

I'm not sure why they'd want one. Sunweb had a spectacular tour as a classics stage-hunting squad. Aru might be best served by repurposing him in that direction, and that would suit Qhubeka far better.carbonclem said:
