I assume we’re effectively 2 down with Ali unlikely to bat?

Ali was in the nets this morning - pretty sure he will bat if needed.

Yeah probably come in down the order and just swing out

Yeah and that's all we will hopefully need from him, his usual quick 15-25 and hole out. Fingers crossed.

At the moment they need to get through this difficult Cummins spell, been a couple of chances so far.

Bit of weather in the forecast tomorrow and Monday, how bad it might be depends which forecast you believe. BBC has rain tomorrow afternoon but at 30%, Met Office has dry but 20%. Monday morning looks potentially damp. I don't think it looks like being a total washout like last week though, but who knows.

Ali is padded up and ready to come in next by the looks of it.

260 odd I think is the highest 4th innings successful run chase at the Oval.

My prediction of 350 by tea was depressingly wrong. Can't bat for toffee......😛

    263...

There have been higher 4th innings scores but not winning ones - most recently Australia 348 in 2009 and India 345 in 2018 (England won both times). Plus some other high scoring draws.

Half an hour at them tonight or bat them out of the game?

Why not both? Tell everyone to get a move on. 40 odd minutes of England going full tilt could put the game out of reach.

    I'd like a good 30 minutes tonight

I think they might want to give the bowlers a full days rest

They've had enough time to go out and bowl 10-12 overs between them.

My concern now is the Aussies taking wickets and perking up.

    I agree.

In the event it probably won't matter now - either they'll bat past the cutoff or they will be all out.

    Total is defendable already IMO

    Nah he's a tough cookie.

I doubt they will bat in the morning - I'd let the aussies sweat overnight and declare in the morning though. Although they'll let Jimmy have a bit of a bat on his 41st birthday :D

Broad to retire after this match :o:o

David Warner one more time 🤞

Maybe they will bat a bit in the morning........

In the Kabul Premier League, an bowler went for 48 runs off one over today. Now THAT'S BAZBALL.

How is that even possible lol... how many no balls were there!!!

And I thought Netherlands 30 super over against the West Indies in the ODI WC qualis last month was good...

Did they score 48 in the over or did the bowler go for 48?

A no ball hit for 6, 5 wides, then 6 sixes with the legit deliveries.

Well at least they were only hit for 42 then, being hit for 48 would be a bit embarrassing

Might not get any play after lunch today but tomorrow looks hopeful for a full day. Based on the first innings the Aussies will bat for the draw!

You need a more cheery weather forecast

But if I was an Aussie I would see the weather as offering hope

If it looks like there only being four sessions or less of play left they'll have no choice but to bat for the draw imo.

My app says it will p1ss it down for two hours from 1pm but then spitting it down the rest of the day. I think if the problem is getting back out as the rain will be so light as to not take them off

Broad and Anderson essentially opening as there is the new ball!
