Not too shabby a wag of the tail. Couple of wickets tonight would be handy0

As a ticket holder for Sunday that was about as perfect a days play as I could have hoped for0

Yes, your prospects of witnessing an abject England capitulation for about 70 runs have been greatly enhanced.surrey_commuter said:As a ticket holder for Sunday that was about as perfect a days play as I could have hoped for

The beauty of test cricket is that i could also see Pujara edging towards his century or get a full refundmrb123 said:

England are going to have some batting to do to save this match now let alone win it.0
-
We'll bowl them out within the next hour. + or - a day or so......0
-
SC is getting his money's worth today. India now definitely favourites.0
-
We only need to score at just under 3 per over. Easy.....0

Slightly surprised to hear a pundit on Radio 5 saying that a draw is England's best hope. I would have an Indian win as the odds on favourite result but if England bat it out they would most likely get the runs to win over 4 sessions surely?0

Suppose if we lose a couple of wickets our scoring rate is likely to drop right down.Pross said:Slightly surprised to hear a pundit on Radio 5 saying that a draw is England's best hope. Whatever happens will be a great day of cricket.
As Priss says, if England bat the three sessions left today, they should win. They just need to play sensibly, rotate the strike, put away the bad balls and not do anything silly...0 -
If anybody is interested it was misty first thing but now the sun is out and it is heating up already0

Yep, going to be clear as a bell, no wind and forecast 23 degrees by midday. Could be a great day's cricket with every result still possible.surrey_commuter said:If anybody is interested it was misty first thing but now the sun is out and it is heating up already

Agreed - can’t see India winning without the pitch breaking up and Jadeja bowling better.kingstongraham said:

History is against us on the chase but I think the Test chase records will get smashed in the coming years as one day experience kicks in.
We just need to tick over, keep wickets and then knock off 100-120 in the last 20 overs. Just need a proper batsman at one end and then Bairstow, Ali and Woakes doing a quick 30.0 -
And today is Labour Day so I can cancel some meetings this afternoon0

There's always chat about it, but one day restrictions make it much harder to restrict scoring.surrey_commuter said:

The classic, rotate strike, put away the bad balls and don't do anything silly.
If England bat through the day they should win if they score around 3.3 an over on average.0 -

Your final paragraph was my thinking though. If the top order can stay in and just tick over then make it a short run chase for the big hitters.

New ball before tea. No matter what the situation then, Bumrah could still take them apart.0

I would love to see a one day game played with no fielding restrictions.TheBigBean said:

Today with the bigger boundaries there would be a lot of non-boundaries on offer so allowing and easy 5/6 an over0 -
With current one day rules about wides on the leg side/bouncers or test rules?surrey_commuter said:

At the start of the innings I was thinking getting to 100 without loss would be a good start which was just about achieved.0

bouncers are not an issue on ths pitch. Leg side wides I just think players are far more adept at scoring. Hopefully we will get to find out.kingstongraham said:

I think slow over rate will have more of an impact0 -
It's situations like this where the penalties for slow over rate need sorting out. The current penalties are no deterrent. Surely there could be a Duckworth Lewis type formula where the batting side gets awarded extra runs for every over not bowled? I reckon it would solve the problem overnight.surrey_commuter said:

Hameed dropped, about time one went England's way.0

That was an absolutely straightforward catch put down there.0

Getting run out in this situation is unforgiveable.0
