Lost 4 wickets on 67 runs! A bit of a let off for them letting them get 11 runs for the last wicket

Just enough time to move the sofa away from the wall. Gives me somewhere to hide when we come out to bat

Pundit on Sky Sports "in this innings, i think India have got less runs than they would have liked".

    Well, really?

    Well.

That was.....unexpected.... to put it mildly.

Very good day. Bounced back incredibly well after the fiasco of the 5th day of the last Test.

I think that's the first time England have bowled a team out in day 1 and ended it with 100+ runs and no wickets lost.

England and India are playing like they did a body swap from a goofy 80s movie between tests.

One of the saddest stats I've seen in some time: "All of England's top four have passed 30 in the same innings for only the second time since March 2013."

Extras not having a good innings relative to the rest.

If Root carries on like this, he is going to end up high on the list of most runs in a year.

Read that too, the bit after it put it into context:

They have played 108 Tests in that time. Before that they had done so five times in 18 Tests between August 2011 and March 2013.

What's the betting it rains for the next 3 days?

I am sure that England are due to play (an unprecedented) 17 Tests in 2021. Give us the opportunity to set some unbeatable (good and bad) records

It's only the ninth time the top 4 have scored 60 or more.

    Lead of over 200 now.

Did Agnew just say that Malan scored more in this innings than all the England no3's combined this summer (in tests)?

I'm seriously struggling to get my head wrapped around the fact that England are 300+ for the loss of only 3 wickets.

    I don't think it's a 78 all out wicket.

I do believe that, after a great deal of pondering and deep thought, Joe Root may be fairly good at batting.

Would anyone declare in a bit and force them to bat a few overs tonight or hang on and hope conditions are good for bowling first thing tomorrow?

I would. 30 minutes plus against tired players with a fresh bowling attack. I don't see why you wouldn't TBH.

I'll eat a hat if they do however.

Take easy runs when they are available. Unless there is a bad weather forecast or a bowler might be injured, I would score as many as possible.
