Whilst leaving Ineos makes sense given their other/younger leaders, I’m still a bit surprised it’s actually happened.

I assume he must have some climbing/props Grand Tour support lined up to also join the new team. Will certainly be interesting seeing him take on Ineos.

Yes you would have thought part of the deal would be legitimate climbing support for the mountains.

Well my gast is truly flabbered!

One supposes (hopes) that Gee and Luke will go, "Fwhah...It's Froomey innit butt, let's help 'im win 5"

But I suspect there may be a few less romantic individuals in the team.

[small](All those times he's nicked stage wins out from the noses of teammates may suddenly come back to bite him...)[/small]

Hopefully they'll give him the 5th he wants and let him go on a high. If not what are the chances he'll just ride for himself.

However it will be very interesting for future GTs if he can get a team behind him, especially if his recent strava uploads prove that his form is still there.

Porte and Nieve makes sense. Do you think Porte still has the form to drop back into a super domestique role? Is Nieve still right up there as a climber?

I think it's safe to say that ISUN will ride in a different manner to Ineos. Don't expect a big train on the front.

Unless I've missed something, there's been no confirmation from Froome that he's going to ISUN. Although no-one thinks he's going anywhere else.

I reckon Jumbo will win this year's Tour. There's no way Froome won't ride for himself and he'll ignore any team orders to do otherwise. It'll be like 1986 all over again, but this time with a competent opponent who can take advantage.

And I think if Froome doesn't win this year's he won't win another. I can't see ISUN being the right team to help deliver the win.

I hope I'm wrong, I really want Froome to get 5.

If it wasn't for the fact that the 5th Tour win is still being quoted, I might be thinking they realise after his crash that he's actually leaving for the knackers yard

    Good!

Let's hope he's still at a decent level as that would be *really* fun.

So Ineos are all in on Bernal with G as backup for the tour. Froome rides for himself. Assuming he's selected of course.....

And there's also the small matter of 5 million a year for three years

I think they will all ride for themselves regardless of instruction until they make the situation clear.

So do ISUN ride for Froome this tour once it become clear Dan Martin won't get near the podium?

There may have been a preview on the 2018 stage that ITV repeated yesterday. Dumoulin has been up the road, Thomas attacks and bridges up to him. Froome looking for an excuse to chase gets it when Dan Martin attacks.

Will Ineos actually send Froome to the Tour now? They’ve got Bernal and Thomas, we’ve seen how we’ll a ‘Trident’ works in the past.

It’s not ideal for Froome obviously but I can’t see how it would make sense to Ineos to send a guy who they know is leaving.

This... If I were team manager I wouldn't take him to the Tour. Maybe Giro or Vuelta

As I have mentioned elsewhere on social media, I expect that Froome has guarantees regarding Tour selection and status in his current contract. If Ineos weren't prepared to select him he would have moved mid-season. The statement Froome put out via Ineos said he's riding the Tour.

My guess based purely on what has been said is that it will be the trident for the first 2 weeks at least then the road will decide. There are too many variables on a GT to have only one plan, plus Sky/Ineos are not shy of a crash or two.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Bernal's still got to get into Europe (I'm sure he will). And someone might get the plague.

I'm not surprise at all that he's seeing the year out. Also people seem to dismiss the 5th Tour thing. I'm sure that would still be massive for Ineos so I can't see then not backing him if they think he's got half a chance.
