The Telegraph really have redefined the word Premium

His argument is that the EU is rubbish because it didn't take EU-wide action, and it was left to the nation states. I wonder what he'd have said if the EU tried ordering an EU-wide lockdown when the outbreak took off in Lombardy.

    Foreigners are judging Boris
Greece has banned flights from the UK
The Mayor of Bergamo has summoned his daughters home from the UK.

Strangely as we come down to the wire and find out if he truly can turn the tap on or off or whether he is a complete narcissistic fvck wit I am starting to admire the balls of the bloke.

Obviously I would rather he was leader of another country but that would not be as exciting

I don't think the symptoms are the same for everybody. Some peoples immune systems seem to be able to fight it better than others. As we know children seem to show little if any complications.

There are also some reports of people losing the sense of smell and taste, as additional indicators.

Gary Lineker posted today that someone in his house has had exactly those symptoms, but not had it confirmed whether or not it is Covid-19
Couldn't tell salt and vinegar from cheese and onion apparently.

Plans being put together to take over the Excel centre

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/23/nhs-plans-to-turn-excel-centre-into-coronavirus-hospital

Wish someone had thought of that earlier.

I will wait for a more reliable source but it does seem bizarre the way we appear to have done no planning whatsoever.

The deal with private hospitals last week, the tv appeal for somebody, anybody, to make ventilators the week before and the week before that a staffing Budget totally ignoring the onrushing tsunami.

If we assume that nobody could be so knowingly stupid why do we think this was?

He strikes with perfect timing so that as the number of victims max out so does the capacity of the NHS.

Two weeks off the first sombrero, so buckle up and let’s hope he has got his sums right.

Very, very important statement, can’t afford a slip up, needs the message to be completely unambiguous, so he’d be crazy to not autocue it.

but sadly it was only on the BBC. The hard of thinking who really needed to watch it were having their usual dose of Corrie.

Almost 3 hours since being taken off to hospital our family friend is still waiting on the ambulance to be admitted and no other news. It's the worst affected hospital in Wales and the local health board has over half of the confirmed cases so presumably they're overwhelmed.

Meanwhile in America Trump appears to go cold on the lockdown option, and the Elected Reps are still too busy point scoring to agree a fiscal rescue package.

What I know of this comes from Ma and Pa raver who were, until recently, A practice Nurse and GP respectively.

The currently available test only tests for the presence of CV in your system (snot from what I've seen). There have been many cases of people repeatedly testing negative but then rapidly coming down with the virus. Also, anecdotes from Iceland where the entire population was tested suggests that 50% of people may test positive but show no symptoms. I wonder - as a...geologist - that if I'm living with three people testing positive for CV, if I would test positive too because particles are in my nose but not affecting my system because my body knows how to deal with it. i.e. I have the antibodies to deal with it

As you've worked out I'm sure, the next test that needs to be developed is one for antibodies, effectively similar to the BCG pre-test (which I'm sure has an actual name). From then we can work out who is 'safe' and whether or not people can catch it twice etc. This is bloomin hard work for a lot of very clever people though.

Hook has just captured Tigerlilly... 😮

    Thanks DDR.

The antibody test is what I was referring to before. Also intriguing is that this disease can manifest itself in such a wide variety of ways/symptoms and a huge difference in severity from 'don't even know you're ill' to 'dead'.

I've just replayed the announcement. So, I heard "ok to cycle" and "ok to go out and buy essentials". Essentially the PM has told us all to buy a new bike......I think.

Johnson is a liar, and has few, if any, principles. I dislike him intensely for how he's used Brexit to further his personal ambition. But he said what needed saying, convincingly. He might yet redeem himself. I hope he can. He's made a start.

Online bike retailers might benefit from this? Boris did say use delivery services where you can...

I heard run, cycle (covers me) and exercise i.e walk the dogs (covers me and the OH).
