Equal parts gin, Cointreau, lemon juice, plus dash of egg white (powdered or fresh). Shake over cracked ice till a little foamy. Strain into 3oz martini glass, with crusted rim (sugar or salt to pref). Garnish with mint if presentation counts.rick_chasey said:
So all the whiskey, bourbon and scotch jobbies. Eg old fashioned, Manhattan, rob roy, cinamanhatton, scofflaw, whiskey Rickey, highball, boulevadier, various nails.RichN95. said:rick_chasey said:
Cocktail menu will also be truncated, but quality will be maintained.
Could we have a little peek at the cocktail menu?
Rum based I can do a few but am limited to a couple of drinks due to limited rum supply. Mojitos, daiquiris (I can do cranberry orange or apple, possibly raspberries spending on how hungry the toddler is)
Various tonic based drinks.
Tequila wise that is also rationed but I have some outstanding mescal as a substitute (though it is actually very drinkable solo but v Smokey) but various forms of margaritas (eg chap aka, wall banger, avocado if you’re feeling adventurous, Mexican madras/mule)
Then the classic gin efforts, martini, g&t, gimlets, gin fizz, gin julep, Rickey, sling.
Basically I’m ok on base spirits and citrus & mixers (inc vermouth) What’s missing is any type of wine or Campari or aperol or any kind of liqueur save for Cointreau.

(I was a bit premature, but NOW it's been cancelled...)ddraver said:Hearing rumours that the UTMB has been cancelled which is a similar event type to the Tour in many ways and just as prestigious in its small part of France. I would say this does not bode so well for Tour - However, there was no talk about making it later than it's usual last week of August...
Ironically, just as borders are beginning to open up. They are citing the large groups of numbers in small places (Not so good for The Tour) and that people from further afield will likely not be able to come (not so relevant for the tour)We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

London Marathon have just emailed to say they don't really know about the race in October now.
Perhaps they'll just run the elite race but seems a lot of work for such a small field.0 -
To think that a few weeks ago when people were posting on forums (not just this one) that 2020 would be a write off, others were telling them not to be defeatist.
However it looks like they might be right :-(0 -
And to think that one of those forecasting the cancellation of an event with 200 competitors, was still hoping to take part in another that has 40,000!jimmythecuckoo said:To think that a few weeks ago when people were posting on forums (not just this one) that 2020 would be a write off, others were telling them not to be defeatist.

There does seem to be some light at the end of the tunnel, but the situation will always remain fluid at best. Fingers crossed and all that."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

There's still seven months left in the year. Sport was only stopped two months ago and is re-emerging.Twitter: @RichN950 -
You're not going to be able to run the Tour in the winter though are you ?

Who knew that Froome was so tight with the Colombian government?
Still, I understand there are a bunch of people living in Colombia who are very handy at smuggling stuff out of the country."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Weren't the columbian govt rumoured to be in talks with team sky over sponsorship last year, before the Ineos switch?

It would be great to have some sport back on - I don’t really like reading about teams going under - but let’s not kid ourselves that any racing in 2020 is going to be anything other than those early season races which can be fun but ultimately inconsequential.
It’s too uneven.0 -

Anyhow, first race up is due to be the Vuelta a Burgos on July 28th.
But for the final stage, it usually runs between a series of one horse towns and is only watched roadside by the odd lizard, soaking up the Sun.
Definitely comes under the category of inconsequential."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

I'm reliably informed that Paris-Roubaix can't go ahead as the roads will be dirty due to beetroot season.0

Paris-Roubaix - famous throughout the world for it's spotlessly clean roads.0 -
But, seriously, I think if any race can go ahead (beetroot-season permitting) it's Paris Roubaix. The Carrefour de L'Arbre is not that packed and entry to the velodrome can be controlled.0

Well yes, going down a level. Not much else in July for obvious reason.RichN95. said:blazing_saddles said:

No need for Zoom, as they already have their own official race which starts at the bottom of their drive (OK, I'm stretching the point a bit here) and finishes by the back door.RichN95. said:blazing_saddles said:

So, it's all under lockdown rules, as long as their are no Cummings and goings.

Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale says he was one of two individuals to test positive for coronavirus in the latest round of Premier League tests.
"It's definitely a shock. I've not been in contact with anybody and I've now got it," said the England Under-21 international, who will self-isolate for seven days.
"When you know you haven't had it, and you've just been following the rules and only gone to the shop, that was obviously scary at first."
