Bullshit! He might have blown up on Tignes and Thomas be in yellow.
He hasn't won a stage yet, so if he wants to put his stamp on this victory and not be thought of as a lucky winner he needs to win today.
Have you watched cycling before? How many attacks from 50km out get reeled back in? Bernal has not been the best at any point up until the Iseran. To say he'd be gaining 5+ minutes on a 7km climb is ridiculously counterfactual.
Stage 19, Giro 2018.Correlation is not causation.0 -

Because he is riding in support of someone else. You are aware of how Ineos formerly Sky work?0 -
Eurosport update: Bradley’s wearing Fila and those lovely people at VW are bringing electric cars to the people, for the people. They’re doing it for US!0

Like they brought us their eco diesels?Correlation is not causation.0 -

Is that why he lost so much time in the time trial?

And it was Bernal + Yates
If one watches Bernal's attack again, it was Kruijswijk who tried to follow. He couldn't, pulled over and with Geraint next in line. that was it. He waved bye bye and was free and clear.
With De Plus up the road and at that point had not been called back, it would have been more sensible to continue to ride on Bernal's wheel, call De Plus back and meet up somewhere on the road.
So, I take any talk about SK saving it for the Tignes climb with just a pinch of salt.
Oh I fully agree Bernal was taking more time.
2 GC riders - Yates and Bernal pushing on together vs a demoralised SK with or without a knackered domestique with GT on his wheel waiting to launch an attack.0 -

The TT has been discussed at length.0 -
Why is anyone shocked at a Colombian climber doing well over multiple 2000+m climbs?Correlation is not causation.0

Hardly surprising, surely his sponsor/team will be looking for a genuine contender and I doubt he would be a great domestique.0 -
They're at start now, hopefully we can stop speculating and just see what they do today.

Has anyone here mentioned the last 11km might be cancelled?0

Eurosport update: Sean Kelly surprisingly forthright about yesterday. He thinks Bernal might not necessarily have made it to the finish and he thinks Thomas was the big loser, as could have come out on top in the end.
He's also picked him ftw today.

Not been mentioned on live TV so I guess it is going to the top, subject to the weather in the next 2 hours.0 -

The French teams don't seem too bothered about winning, it would seem.
Bardet wants to focus on races he can be a serious contender in rather then obsessing with the tour. He's a good allrounder.BASI Nordic Ski Instructor

The publicity caravan is blocked on the climb due to storms, can't chuck chinese plastic crap all over the mountain.
Looks ok on the webcam though

Might as well. A le Mans style start wouldn't make anything more weird than it has been the last two days0
