Some of the Twitterati are claiming the crash didn't happen and it's all a big lie.

Not to mention a load of speculation about hospital blood tests a la Pantani.
Still, without twitter, I would never have realized that there were so many nut jobs out there.

    Christ it’s a bad one isn’t it?

    Hopes he’s alright.

Yup sounds it. Would like to see him get to 5 tours, especially having escorted team mates to the top step on two occasions, hope he can recover properly

Brailsford on 'Five Live' has said he has Broken his hip too and wasn't in a position to talk, but latest was that they were dealing with fractures. Wish the best for Chris Froome and his family.

Just seen it reported that Dave B has said he's also got a fractured hip and is now in intensive care following the surgery.

Very disappointing but Geraint is definitely back down to race weight so hopefully he'll be able to fill in and get a second victory at the Tour.

Help me out here is a 'Broken hip' a break on the femur or on the pelvis - near the hip socket?

Gutted for him. I was more than happy to see a '5th tour coronation' this year given that all the competition came from his own team :(

Separate injuries I think, femur being the main one but also hip.

Straight into a wall at 54km/hr according to the data, as per Brailsford.

Sobering to realise that Froome might be considered lucky to have received 'just' the injuries that are being reported.

My hip break was effectively the head of the femur fracturing. I had to have a hip screw fitted so that the head could heal and knit back together. I hope he hasn’t had that injury as I was non weight bearing for 3 months.

I know there was only one big story yesterday, but does anyone know why Quickhusky lost 5 minutes in the time trial?

And Jumbo Steve was only a few seconds behind Dumoulin in the TT...and loads better than the new aero Yates.

Some of the Twitterati are claiming the crash didn't happen and it's all a big lie.

People are genuinely thinking its suspicious that the Team don't have, and haven't released, crash footage. The guy is in intensive care still ...

    I'm staggered.

Because every moment of every training ride is filmed.

    The knobs.

Why would they be videoing a course recon??

I mean I get all the Sky speculation but I don't understand why they would bother faking a big crash? Anyone explain?

My guess is that they're insinuating is he knew he was going to fail a drug test at the Dauphine? But then why not just say he's ill and go home... It happens all the time and won't require him to be in a fake cast for several months!!

Its feasible they have a dash cam running I guess? If they did, there is no flipping way they'd release it, at least at this point in time. Incredible trains of thought out there  :(

They're just idiots who are so completely invested in their Sky are evil narrative that anything that challenges that must be countered by another layer of conspiracy. No scenario is too dumb to reject other than the idea that they might be wrong.

    Thanks.

I have a horrible feeling that this might be game over as a genuine GT Contender, even if he gets back. I also can't really see him bothering with racing for top 10 at the Tour of Poland...

TBH, I bet it is filmed, just not for public release. Just in case some idiot takes out one of their riders in training.

But we don't have a right to see it. (Edit - and I have no wish to see it!)

I did think the clip at the top of the ITV highlights package was interesting, with the team car asking (pleading?) with him to take care whilst putting on his jacket at low speed.

Why would anyone want to see a video of a rider having a high speed crash with serious injuries? I've seen too much of that live in races. It the modern way to film and show everything and anything no matter what the impact is on others.

Because unless they provide a video it must be a massive cover up!!!!11!!!!1!

I checked on the Asylum, it's very sensible on there with regards the Froome crash. Couple of tinfoil hatters but they got told to shut up pretty fast. Leads me to believe it's only attention seekers on Twitter making these farcical claims.

They're quite quick to ban people saying anything bad about crashes, so they all know to tone it down.

Another thing about social media (esp Twitter). Why do so many people have to qualify their sympathy statements with "I'm not a fan of Froome/Sky but...."

You don't see tweets like that when someone famous dies. "I've never bought a jazz record, but I was saddened to hear the of the passing of Dr. John"

I guess because you don't tend to listen to musicians or watch actors you don't like.

Whereas in sport you have allegiances because your heroes are competing directly with your competitors, so when you make a statement about someone like Chris, you want to assert your sporting allegiance ("I am not a sky fan") before you say something nice (because you're not a total sh!t) "but this is terrible, poor guy."
