The leading GC group seems to have 40" on the chasing group (Porte, Bardet)

    My mistake, it's a bit over 20".
Lead GC group are 20" behind a two man break.
Froome, Quintana, Fuglsang, Yates in it.

great racing and great to see the GC contenders without team mates and fighting for themselves. It's got a feel of a hilly one day race.

    I like it

    Good stage that.
A fair bit harder than it even looked on paper.

    Very good

    Punchy.

Pretty full on from the big boys there

Really good stage. Teuns nearly embarrassed himself at the end, checking the group behind and getting jumped by the little climber. Seemed to take him an age to realise he'd been passed.

Looking at the Tour de France profiles, stage 8 has the potential to be a very similar stage to yesterday's stage.

You would have thought his soigneur would have got him wrapped up in warmer clothing before the interview. I've been like that after a race and it has taken me a couple of hot cups of tea and half an hour in the car with all the heaters on full before I stopped shivering.

or still on full blast and a fleece on and still not properly warm till youve had a shower. #maximum exertion

It’s great seeing Pinot looking perky, but he was doing a bit of that annoying Shleck trait (Frank and Andy both did it) at the end of the stage yesterday when he was attacking the chase group: after surging ahead, he’d immediately look over his shoulder at the damage/who was with him... get on with, boy!

I've just realized that the Paris-Nice climbed higher than this Dauphine.
Very odd given the final week's climbs in the Tour.

Absolute domination of the sprint from Sam Bennett there, surely he's at least on Bora's long list for the tour.

Second for WvA too - anyone think he could put in a decent challenge for the green jersey? Probably not this year with Groenewegen in the squad but he's pretty versatile.
