Just a reminder that following on from the opening Belgian weekend, that today we have the little race that often delivers what we hope for from it's big brothers.

    51st Le Samyn.

    le-samyn-2019.png

The profile sees a small change compared to recent years. The cobbled Rue du Vert Pignon has been taken out, but instead there's the Côte de la Nonnette added to the circuit, closer to the finish.

Last year's winner, Niki Terpstra is back to defend his title, but for his new team.

Live coverage begins on Eurosport 2 at 2pm.

Quick Step are planning to win everything for the next 6 weeks, it seems.

Terpstra was struggling at the end there.

Senechal reversed the 2016 result where he was 3rd to Terpstra.

Thwaites was 2nd that year. Last weekend he rode the Leeds Mercury Reliability Ride rather than the Omloop where he was 16th both last year and in 2016 and KBK where he was 10th in 2016. Next weekend he rides the Eddie Soens Handicap rather than Strade where he was 10th in 2017. Strange World.

I have just watched last 20km,and found it better than KBK, and more interesting parcours too.
I slept through most of KBK.

Hopefully, he’s doing a “Blythe” and before long, and will be representing in a WT team sometime soon...

Just switching Brendene Classic on now. Is this likely to be a sprint fest? Team presentations look like a nicely organised affair. Good to see Kris Boeckmens riding, as well as Remco Evenepoel being shown off to the crowd

It's basically become the 2nd day of De Panne...

Yeah I heard earlier that it replaced the Three Days of West Flanders which makes sense. A few big collective get downs but nothing too serious, Ackermann took it in a sprint

No idea where the best place for this is, but the least surprising doping scandal of the season has broken early, this year.

Saturday 6th April is the Dutch spring favourite the Volta Limburg Classic:
    https://www.voltalimburgclassic.nl

    Live on L1 TV -https://l1.nl/live-l1-tv/

A tough race around the many small hills and steep little climbs of southern Limburg, finishing on a slight uphill cobbled street in Eijsden. Not a classic line up for the men's race this year, but some strong riders nonetheless. Typically only 50 or 60 will finish...

Volta Limburg Update - a lovely day in Limburg with some exciting racing.

Demi Vollering (Parkhotel Valkenberg) wins the women's race in a 2-up sprint from Franziska Koch (Mexx-Watersley).

Men's race ends in a photo-finish between Patrick Muller (Vittel Concept) and Justin Jules (Wallonie Bruxelles), with the win going to Muller.

  • G Martin wins the stage at Sicily but fair play to Brandon McNulty he hung on on a bad weather day for the GC

Some nice racing this afternoon. I stuck with Limburg and watched the highlights of the other two races on Eurosport, both won by the French. In Holland, Justin Jules failed to make it a triple whammy by the width of a gnat's gonad.

Super Sam and Sagan aside, Bora's fantastic form continues.
Lukas Postleberger already looked to have won them the stage, only for a flying late charge from Bennett to put clear air between himself and the rest. Felix Grosschartner made it a Bora 1-2, with small gaps between small groups behind.
Nice to see Cav putting in a shift on the front, too.

An early heads up for a bit of a post Amstel, Easter Monday treat.
Not only does Eurosport have Froome and the gang touring the Alps live at 1pm, but they follow it up with with the wonderful and wacky Tro Bro Leon, live, in it's new, improved calendar slot.
