At this point it seems like O'Rouke has opted to go with the mud slinging defence to me.

Staggering exchanges in the Freeman tribunal.
A furious Sutton tells O’Rourke she’s defending the wrong man. He calls her “a bully”.
“You’ve called me a doper and you don’t even know me” he says, banging fist on the table.

Sutton: “Tell the doc to take his screen down, man up a bit and look me in the eye. Tell me to my face that I ordered it (the Testogel). He knows I didn’t order it. I’ve got no reason to lie. (To O’Rourke) “this whole line of questioning is totally wrong. you have to believe me”

BTW why is Dan Roan there? Aren't there bigger stories in sport the BBC Sports Editor should be working on?It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0

Why - when you know you're going to be dragged in front of (yet another) panel - would you send a text threatening the accused?0

God knows I'm not a lawyer but I suspect...suspect...that I might not have advised my client, to take this line of defence...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Please don't complain that your children are being affected by the story - then go and swear on your daughters death ...0

Not exactly the best "defence" (as he's not on trial here) - yes, you can get a hard on - because you're taking something for it - that's the whole point ... ?
It's all a bit odd - cos if it was for Sutton - then why not just admit it? hardly seems worth causing such a shitstorm for ... so perhaps it isn't that? or it is and Sutton is just a knob ...0 -

More sensational exchanges: Sutton to O’Rourke while thumping table:
“You’re saying I can’t get a hard-on in the press. Well my wife wants to come here & testify you’re a bloody liar!”
(Freeman says he ordered the Testogel on behalf of Sutton to treat his erectile dysfunction)

Still no delete post button around here then.....
Anyhow, good to see that the BBC are again on the ball with their cycling and doping headline. Already up on the website.
If only they could be bothered to report on the actual sport."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.2 -
Is there a one sentence strap line for what the hell this is all about.
My Twitter is full of incredulity that Shane Sutton is a potty mouth and apparently this a now a big deal.
What’s he got to do with doping anyway?0 -
@rick_chasey - Did Richard Freeman order Testosterone Patches, against medical practice guidelines, for an athlete to use for illegal performance enhancement or for Shane Sutton's battle against ageing, a symptom of which may have been erectile dysfunction.
If I'm allowed a second sentence -
The ordering of medicines outside of proper channels (i.e a prescription and a pharmacy) and the apparent lack of any proper record keeping is a serious failing as a doctor, which would usually lead to them being struck off, his defence is that he was bullied into it by the aforementioned Mr. Sutton. We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

If I'm allowed a few more...
It is important to remember that this, as yet, is not an investigation in to doping or sporting rule violations but an investigation into whether or not Freeman followed medical procedure.
For obvious reasons doctors must not prescribe things without letting the patients GP know, marking it in medical notes or when they know it will be given to someone else.
Strip away the sporting aspect and imagine a GP prescribing pain killers for a wife with no physical problems who has a husband with previous drug addiction problems, for example. We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

so the question would be why didnt the patient go to THEIR GP in the first place ? as then none of this bullshit would ever have ended up paraded in public like this.ddraver said:

I dont think you can strip away the sporting aspect because thats the context that ultimately was one of the enablers for it to happen, the checks and balances of a normal doctor prescribing stuff for a patient werent there, the patient is rarely the boss of the gp for one, and it creates a conflict of interest does the doctor do the best thing for the patient, or the best thing to ease the boss/worker tensions given the setup
which must crop up in sport far more often than is publicised.2 -

Still think this is not that difficult to guess. My take is that Freeman is (again) lying, and that the Testogel was never for Sutton. But since it was discovered by chance and turned into this omnishambles, Freeman is taking the opportunity to pay back on Sutton for his other behaviour. He needed some stupid story that some people might believe and this is it. More importantly, the story had to also be difficult to *disprove*.
Sutton can't actually tell the truth either, because to do so means he'd implicate whoever it really *was* for, which kind of blows up the whole Sky / BC thing around the London Olympics time in particular. That little story would be rather more of a news item than whether he can manage the horizontal tango without help.
Both of them (and a whole lotta other connected parties) will therefore be wanting this whole thing to finish and go away. There would seem little doubt Freeman will keep his medical licence anyway, so I am assuming he simply wants maximum damage to Sutton as his price for losing that. He'll be left with not much else.

They say that the art of law is telling a better story than the opposition and right now the only story in town is the Right Honourable Member for Sutton.Wheelspinner said:Still think this is not that difficult to guess. At the moment the competing argument seems to be that it was for a doper, but you won't know him he goes to another school.Twitter: @RichN950 -
It's a medical tribunal, they can't do anything to him he's there as an unwilling witness and is showing he isn't happy about it. Why not go hard (no pun intended) back at them if he genuinely believes they're slandering him?ddraver said:

He also doesn't care if his attitude results in some shite getting flung in the direction of BC I would guess as he probably feels badly treated by them.0
