    Sadly for you, everyone gets the one vote just like you high brow intellectuals ;) Seems to remember you being less amused about what you saw as a similar point after the Brexit referendum.
    oh come on, you have to admit that is funny
    Well it could be a good demonstration of his appeal to former Labour voters :smile:
    Perhaps both parties could just agree to swap names and branding to save the rest of us having to listen to endless b******s about walls of assorted colours.
    Labour are still the party of people of working age (roughly).
    Labour were never formed as the party of people of working age, you are trying to be smart by subtly swapping 'working class' for 'working age'. So the use of 'still' is simply wrong.

    In any event , they've never really been the party of the working hard class.
    Wouldn't get too high on your own farts, mate.
    Ooh you're so harsh Rick. Sounds like you don't identify with the working hard class. Try it sometime rather than moaning about stuff on here: take it from me, it could do wonders for your future prosperity ;)
    I get it that you're a boy done good from Redcar or whatever it is, but I'd suggest that not every successful person is that because they're wonderful or that they've worked hard and not everyone who is hard up is awful or lazy.
    Of course I would never suggest that's the only factor because it isn't. But there seems to be a correlation and sometimes its' application that makes the difference.

    What's the working hard class?

    The hard working white collar workers who slog at their computer every damn day. Sometimes before 8 and well after 5 pm.

    Sometimes we even have back to back meetings for a whole half day and can barely make time for a coffee.
    I think the days of thinking that physical labour is the only real form of working hard are behind us now.

    What about "hard working families"? I thought that was all politicians care about (if you listened to their soundbites).

    If i'm bit of a slacker, does my vote count less?

    (It's not an if).

    It counts more as you are exactly the kind of person that says one thing whilst knowing another to be true and therefore part of the political elite.
    Can you be part of the political elite if you've never been a member of a party?
    I was taking the piss as I have yet to meet a slacker that is honest and transparent about their work ethic to anything other than their close mates. It is something to do with their being consequences for this honesty.

    Quoted from BBC but an interesting reflection on the more attention seeking members of the forum

    And coincidentally the study comes from Cambridge :smile:

    Surely it's one Britain, four nations?

    If that's what they're teaching the kids, no wonder our kids are thickos.

    One Britain, three nations. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom.

    Got their own footy team innit.

    The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK), since 1922, comprises four constituent countries: England, Scotland, and Wales (which collectively make up Great Britain), as well as Northern Ireland (variously described as a country, province or region).

    Uk = 4 countries
    GB = 3 countries

    Boris’s use of Britain specifically excludes NI

    Also, the ones that finish earlier start earlier, so the hours of teaching are the same. The afternoon is then free for clubs, etc.

    Maybe they should start by looking a bit closer to home and at how much MPs attend parliament, both in terms of days and hours (i know there can be some late evenings) and then also look at the Lord's. Then also look at how long MPs are spending in their constituency surgeries?

    The less time Donaldson spends in work the better as far as I'm concerned. Every minute he is working is a risk of things being made worse.
