Pity it wasn't us who dumped them out but still a great result. I shall have to practice my towel skimming for tomorrow morning at the pool.

Thanks for that, I just had to go and remind myself of the original, so bizarre and so funny.

The Germans like precision and accuracy. I wonder how they took to VAR allowing the first goal.
Moving on, I think England should play their strongest 11 and keep the momentum going. Planning on playing a "weak" team in the later rounds is a colander of potholes.

    :)

Being Norwegian he's probably a Liverpool fan which is why they battered us 2-1.

Colombia top their group and Japan finish second

So if England top the group the path to the final is

      Japan > Brazil/Mexico > Uruguay/France/Portugal/Argentina

      Finish second and it's

      Colombia > Sweden/Switzerland > Spain/Russia/Croatia/Denmark

So would you rather Colombia next to dodge Brazil/Mexico.

      Not sure.......

I'd rather have Japan and take my chances. Had a bad feeling about meeting Columbia before a ball was even kicked, Falcao completely schooled John Stones in the Champions League the season before last and they are wiley enough to cause our naive young defence real issues. That's my opinion anyway.

Completely agree. Falcao is a real handful and Colombia, on the whole, are one of the clever / dishonest teams that just know how to win.

Well, there you go. Mission accomplished. Coming second to a team who's primary objective tonight was to lose. If you believe what you are told. Did laugh at the hypocrisy of the media moaning about Martinez's comments after they've been saying the same thing for months.

Pointless loser retort. Does not matter if I am russian english, scotch or from Uranus - I'm still glad that england lost.

Tbh I don’t think it says much of either team given they both basically put out different teams.

      Columbia will be close.

I doubt it would have meant much to beat Belgium's B team anyway - they were both clearly playing it as a friendly, checking over the match fitness of their other players.

I'm happy with the result - if we lose to Columbia then there's no way in hell we'd have beaten Mexico/Brazil.

well, you seem to talk out of Uranus all the time so it wouldn't be a surprise tbh.

All of a sudden, the vibe has gone from "we might just be able to do this" to "but Colombia are better than Japan...".

If England are planning on getting to the final, Colombia shouldn't beat them, clearly. Japan beat Colombia. Last nights game was two second teams, so should have no impact on anything.

Japan beat a 10 man Colombia. England will struggle against Cuadrado, Quintero et al.

If that's true, we would have been destroyed by Brazil or Mexico.
