Another example is that the offside rule is based on any part of the body that can play the ball, so includes feet. Linesmen only consider bodies, but VAR is going to have to include feet which is going to lead to some bad correct decisions. They should have considered all this and changed the rules accordingly before introducing it.

I don't think it's in football's interest to have results that fans don't moan about afterwards.

    That's my theory.

It's the fibre in the football diet.

I've long had the thought that is the opinion of the governing bodies. They could've cracked down on the diving and faking injury a long time ago but I think they leave in there as they see it as part of the theatrical drama. It's put me and others I know off the game, I wouldn't set foot in a stadium even if I was given a free ticket, and I watch a lot more rugby union* now than I do football, but given attendances, popularity and revenue around football just keep on climbing I guess they don't need me as a fan.

*yes I know cheating goes on in rugby too but it's the nature of it in football, the exaggeration of tackles and injury infuriates me.

Am I right I thinking that the crowd is almost entirely made up of beautiful, scantily clad young girls?

I have a suspicion the cameraman my find someone to focus on in the crowd at this Argentina v Croatia match

The fuss players make at having their foot trodden on is embarrassing. Sure it’s a foul and can smart a bit but where is their self-respect rolling over and over on the floor?

    Certainly not Argentina.

Well, what do you expect when you appoint Andre Agassi's brother as manager and pick Graeme Obree as goalie?

Argentina looked the very definition of a collection of individuals rather than a team. Plus the manager had a v neck t-shirt with a jacket on top, deserved to get beat for that alone.

Pfft. Wouldn't drink that catpi55 given away for free.

On a related subject, my (step)son currently is in Prague on a stag, apparently it's a thing, and moaning that he can't get any Budweiser. Oh yes you can, you can drink real Budweiser by the megalitre, just not the pi55water Bud you favour.

The commentators talk a lot about the Iceland player's day jobs but never mention what the others do on the 6 days a week they don't play football.

Maybe they were matching the quality of the drinks to the quality of teams on the board?

Oh. Is that it? The way you put it I thought Costa Rica had come back to 2-1.

Still, two goals in extra time isn't really going to cause much fear amongst anyone let alone Putin's Pups.

Brazil have been completely underwhelming at this tournament so far, but to be fair I said the same thing about New Zealand in the group stages at the Rugby World Cup and was proved to be totally wrong about that when the group stages finished!!

Very happy to see Germany beat Sweden. I have never seen Sweden play good football.
