Plus he had the legs and was ever so slightly unlucky in the sprint - anyone's guess as to what direction Sep would fade in.

OK but go and do it in the bus
Where you end up in the final straight is at least partially your own responsibility.
It wasn't like he was cheated out of it by a crash or a mechanical or sitting up at the line when there's still a lap to go.
I think it was a very public display, together with the handlebar banging, to say that 'That race was mine - if I'd had a clear run at it I'd have definitely beat Sagan.'
That's far from certain and a bit arrogant, and a bit ungracious towards Saggers.

Nowt wrong with being a bit ungracious to Sagan... anyway surely we want to see these folks show some emotion and passion. It's part of the sport.

Terpstra has a rep in the peloton for being a bit nasty in his competitivness for who whoever was asking.
Thing is, why would you need Sep when you have Terpstra?

Sep is a diva by all accounts, hence the need to be the main man. Terpstra knows he's not well liked so sucks it up.

So now I'm confused re Terpstra: If he's not liked in the peloton, but he's sucking it up, working for the team and taking his chances when he gets them, why the viewing public dislike?

He got booed by some in the crowd in the beer tent at the E3 finishline as well as at the podium ceremony.

As an aside the podium girls got lots of catcalls/whistles from the crowd.

Tbh I can't see why you'd dislike him. He's pretty exciting to watch, had some awesome wins and if he ruffles a few feathers while he's at it? Who cares...it's all entertainment at the end of the day.

Nice guys finish last and all that.....

I'm all for seeing the emotion of it - adds to the experience IMO.

I think the Terpstra thing is he's a bit of a pr!ck - stuff like the Vuelta bomb jokes in the direction of Manzana Postobon denotes a fairly crass personality.

IN fairness that's as much Flandrians being parochial I would imagine.

They also feel he’s a wheel sucker. Which in fairness, he is.

Kirby has arrived in the nick of time to ruin the classics before nipping off to Basqueland on Monday. :(

Luke Rowe very active atm. Solo breakaway with 84kms to go.

Van Aert smacks into a roadside photographer and ends up in a ditch.

BMC and QS rip it up - peloton in pieces.

Meanwhile, we find out that Vanmarkce did another 80km after Gent Wevelgem. #lad #Bijtraining

    Valverde 3rd over the Taaienberg.
    Valgren takes to a ditch.

Impressive gap from Stybar, but he's solo, with the big boys selection behind.

Scratch that, GVA came with and goes straight to the front.

Tiesj, EBH, Martin all there too.

    Valverde now pushing on.

    What a bloody brilliant race
