I noticed he had a granny strap fitted to them since Flanders.

Who can unclip uphill, clip back in and still win the sprint.

What were those orange goggles round his lovely neck after the race? I think I want some.

They were from Andy Hampsten's new range he launched recently.
Sorry, did you want the goggles or the neck?

“In the end, it was a pretty hard climb. BMC did a good job for Richie, and then he attacked in the last 800 metres and got a gap. I said, ‘Okay, I will go,’ but I caught him early, at 400 metres to go, and that seemed too far away. At that moment, I thought, ‘Oh no, I went too early again.’ Then I started my sprint and pulled my foot out of the pedal, and I thought, ‘Another mistake, what is happening today?’ But I went ahead. Michael Matthews almost beat me, so I am very happy for this victory.”

    Some guy.

Valverde would have enjoyed that finish today. It was right up his street. Pun intended.

As Brian Smith said, that accidental unclip probably saved his sprint.
He has a tendency to go off too early.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Both really. Anything Sagany is good.

He only missed a single pedal stroke due to the accidental unclip, would that really have made such a difference, starting the sprint one stroke later? I know elite sport turns on tiny variables, but this seems a bit of a stretch from Brian Smith.

If you look at the overhead view, he lost a couple of places in that moment.

I do love Sagan, but that didn't look terribly accidental...

Ned Boulting needs to learn that less is more, I had to turn him right down for that last 10k.

He's gone. Pretty sure Cav did similar in the Olympics and won silver. Looked like a deliberate shove though.

Looked defensive to me. Academical anyway both as he is out, and Cav was on the way down before the elbow came up. IMO.

Farq me! What did they go and do that for? Should've stuck to the first penalty, would've livened up the green jersey. Now they've gone and ruined the whole thing.

A bit harsh. Do you think so Blakey? I'm going to look at the reply again.

    Yes, I agree.

Sir DB has some explaining to do, 'cos like it's all his fault innit? Sez Dan Roan and the others.

    Harsh? Yes.
Cav was going for a closing gap, they both wanted the same wheel, but Cav was behind.

Maybe Sagan was implicated in the first crash and the second one sealed the deal, so to speak.

The cause of the first crash wasn't shown on ITV4 highlights.

yep, no cav, no sagan, no valverde, for all their faults they could each add something

everyone else waiting for someone else to attack sky, if that doesn't change it's going to be rather dull
