Always weird seeing places you've ridden on the TV. Would have been out there myself by the road but had to work this morning.0

The Wolds aren't really that well advertised, because the two national parks overshadow them, but there are some really nice places tucked away there and it's really pleasant to cycle out that way. One thing that doesn't come across quite so well (I notice Ned was a bit surprised just then when the speed dropped on a small hill, and then again when there was a sudden view back down towards the Vale of York, is how much the roads keep going up and down - you frequently end up thinking 'not another sodding rise'. You never really find a rhythm.0 -

Bloody hate Garrowby Hill. Not least as you can see it looming in front of you pretty much all the way from the edge of York. Pretty constant gradient though, so won't cause too many issues.0

Thats a great view of the peloton it looks like a massive hill0 -
And as Ned Bolton has just shown, it doesn't end anywhere near as quickly as you think it ought to! It's actually quite deceptive on the bike, which is probably what did for whoever went early there - it looks like it's about to end and then, er, doesn't...0

The view back down the road gives a good idea of what it's like - it just ploughs straight up the gradient. I've hit over 45mph going down it whilst freewheeling up on the hoods, so I have no idea what's possible if you tuck up properly. Glad the pelton had the decency to make it look like hard work - I had fears of discovering it was pretty easy...
For those watching in telegrams, the frist three on the climb were Empell, Madrazo, Lowsley-Wiliams. Lowsley-Williams made a marvellous break for the points, but seems to have badly misread either the amount of climb or energy levels left - he was left dangling for a good thirty seconds and then reeled in well before the top of the climb.0 -
Just realised Boulting is being autocorrected to Bolton. Is this some sort of Lancastrian plot to infiltrate and disrupt the TDY?0
