Who fears this poll the most?
The Tories?
Or the Labour Party MPs who were determined to shift Corbyn?“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

I think you guys are being incredibly "brave" to be slinging mud based on this exit poll."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
Interesting comments from the Mrs (working a polling station) about the cluelessness of voters. Apparently a few people were asking how to vote for Theresa May. At 9:35pm shortly before polling closed Google had a spike on people searching for the Conservative party manifesto. Buyers regret perhaps.
I suspect the Tories will win, but we won't know until the morning.0 -
Stevo, you post those pictures of the red banner like the commies are the work of the devil. But how many of them were unemployed, homeless, couldn't afford healthcare or education or heating? Compared to what we have now?
There's a theory that our establishment scare monger about Communism because it would mean the masses wake up to being exploited and the 1% loses its privileged power and vast wealth. Done properly, it looks after the 99% not the 1%
Like everything (including cyclists) theres some bad examples and good examples. The haters can only name Stalin, they never mention the others. I think it was Brezhnev who did the most to end the cold war, east-west relations and to limit nuclear weapons, a lot more than Ronald Reagan ever did."The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -

Can you name me one country where communism has been tried and resulted in anything other than a powerful elite whilst large parts of the country remained poor? You mention Stalin, did the Soviet Union work for the people under any of its leaders? Cuba has done some good stuff but the hundreds of thousands who've risked their lives to get out would suggest it is far from Utopia.0 -

I think Mr Curtice was saying that exit polls are less accurate in safe seats, which both the two are.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

....agree, i was responding to another of stevos leftiebollox posts!
in my earlier post, i did say lets wait an see BUT unless this poll is totally wrong, my remark above still stands, the Tories had a decent majority, had no real opposition to their brexit stance and May called this GE for selfish reasons only and not in the national interest at all.0 -

And the guff about 99% of the population being exploited is just bollox. You realise that would include people earning up to £162,000 a year Those poor exploited high earners"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

Just like we have now in the UK and USA?
People never mention the successful socialist nations like Norway. Do you class China as communist, as it has one of the worlds fastest growing economies?"The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -

Stevo, where are the 15ft high walls in Norway?
Except their hydro power that supplies 99% of their electricity"The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -
Just looking at the swings so far, do they correlate with the Brexit vote? Remain => swing to Labour; Leave => swing to Conservative. obviously too little data to say, but it's a theory.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

I seem to recall you once held up Venezuela as a model country. Do me a favour and take the red pill"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

Actually Cuba is a good example of a socialist country. Cracking success...

Socialism isnt communism.... it has a wide definition.
as i am always keen to remind you, i once lived in Sweden (i paid alot more tax too but you know, as i also keep telling you, money isnt everything ) and my cousin lives in Norway, for all their faults these countries dont do so badly, they ve far more equal societies and are nice places to live.

you should get out more and go to a Scandinavian School or a french hospital, even the IFS after slating labours tax plans said that though they would increase tax take to highest levls in peace time, they were quite normal in a european context.0 -

Scandinavian countries are social democracies. Staunch free traders and tend be very international too. IIRC one out India's biggest countries in the engineering sector was originally founded by two Danes for example so it's been that way for a long time.
China is no longer communist it's very capitalist in.many ways. North Korea? Difficult to really know what is happening there but those who've escaped tell of a growing black market capitalism that's funding the establishment there via kick.backs and corruption.
Sorry most communist countries seem to have been moving away from that political ideology. It's dead in.the water I'm afraid. However don't let that stop Corbyn and more so the shadow chancellor.0 -
Still early in the returned votes but if the result is close to what the exit polls have predicted then Theresa May is toast, if so is she the shortest serving prime minister in history?0

Just on the BBC, the odds on Boris Johnson being the next Prime Minister have dropped from 66/1 to 5/1!!

BBC now forecasting that the Tories will get 322 seats which leaves them 4 seats short of an overall majority.0

The BBC has just shown the results of Theresa Mays' constituency. You can see it in her face that she knows it's a disaster for the tories. Not looking strong and stable now, but like someone who knows they're getting the sack."The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0

Tories predicted 318 short by 8
Labour predicted 267
SNP predicted 32
Lib dems predicted 11"The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -

Or is it just May going from being so blank everyone projected their own desired leader onto her, and she's now showing who she actually is, which is a medicore to sh!t parochial politician who's best moments have come from her saying SFA.
People seem to like him, so I would say so.
Incidentally, if the Lib Dems have any off switches, I would recommend turning off Nick Clegg.
How come?
Nick Clegg > Tim Farron
It's a bit like Blair, he needs to accept that he made mistakes and stop being a smug know it all (I can't think of a more eloquent description). His constant reminder that he was in government and was privy to its inner workings doesn't combine well with his complete lack of contrition - his party took a hammering, but his only explanation is that it was an unavoidable sacrifice to save the country. Saving the country included a referendum on the alternative vote (it may have been a better voting system, but it was perceived as an attempt to gain more seats, not save the country).
I'm surprised I'm the first person to say this to you.
I also think that the pro-remain stance will come back to bite. It comes across as a sore loser - something rarely popular in this country.
Still, I could be wrong and the public might love Clegg and the remain stance.
Turns out I'm not alone with my view of Clegg. It is one of the great things about the current electoral system.
Presumably next stop will be Lords, so he can continue to annoy.0 -
Definite hung parliament. No chance of a tory majority now.
