Martin to UAE - has that been confirmed now??
Which Martin? There's at least three of them.

By whom? Still 5 days before new contracts can be officially announced.

I'd be disappointed if he does make that move, I don't know why but I thought he was above petrodollars.

Sky more likely ? They need a buy out though ?

Surely Barguil can get a good contract on a proper WT team...

Unlikely I would have thought. His stated intentions in cycling and Sky's general approach seem at odds with each other.

I know it's an odd one but that was a rumour earlier in the year and now he's decided to pull his finger out...!! He is a square peg though And that's a good thing

jeez, I hope not. Martin to UAE.... mind you without Quickstep having a sponsor, it looks like a few are jumping ship.

So, Landa not quite out of Sky's door, just yet.

Can't see him staying at Sky. The only way Movistar works for him is if Valverde calls it a day. I'd have my agent on the phone to Trek, they're going to need a GT leader next year and they're a solid outfit.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

I think if Sky offered him full on leadership at the Giro or Vuelta he might stay. But Sky has too many chiefs - G will presumably want leadership at a GT again and they can't give it to everyone.

If Sky is smart, it will realise that G is not a GT contender. Landa a much better option.

Still think he goes to Movistar though.

I think if Movistar had any sense they would sign Landa for the Tour and switch Quintana to the Giro/Vuelta. Quintana's never going to win the Tour unless they get rid of the TTs altogether.

He's never going to match Froome or dumoulin in a TT, but he's not that different to the other GC contenders on a good day. He's not JRod.

The shock of this thread is mention of Transitions lenses pin up boy Tyler Farrarararar. Thought he retired years ago. He was slow and an also ran bitd, and has only got slower. Why would anyone give him a contract (unless of course someone else is paying his wages)?

Because he's an experienced rider, prepared to share his wealth of knowledge with young, up and coming riders?

I did fancy a Gilbert, Allaphilippe Martin triple threat for LBL, but I guess even Quick Step can have too many A listers in a one day race.

Then again, they need a cobbled A lister so I imagine it's all on Pip for most of the voorjaar.

The same reason Bennati is still going. I can't remember him even trying to sprint for a long time either

Yep, and that wasn't even his best result at the Tour.

Bennati is very highly regarded as a road captain though. I've never heard the same said about Farrar.

Nieve and Landa will be a big loss in the GC climbing support role at Sky. Wonder who'll be replacing them?

I reckonn 2 of Poels, kennaugh and Thomas
and only 8 in the teams next year . so will have to loose a rider from somewhere .
On their current squad - Froome, Poels, Thomas, Henao, Kwiatkowski, Kiryienka, Stannard and Rowe gets the job done. They still have Inxsausti if they can get him if fit and well too.

Also have Kenny Ellisonde, Diegnen (may be off though?), a developing Seb Henao, Bosworth.... Stannards had a poor yr by his standards, Knees did a great sub job for the tour but is knocking on a bit
