I didn’t comment upon the UK’s response, just Poland’s. I agree about this lightly up being a token gesture.rjsterry said:

No one on here that I've seen.
Of course your Man Utd haven't taken any state money from Putin have they?
No. No one on here.
But this has nothing to do with football partisanship. Good grief.Ben

The view from the corporate treasury perspective is that this is not fatal as cross border payments can be made by alternative means, but it definitely makes life more difficult for Russia. We seem to be misunderstanding one another, so for clarity, the reason I compared our response with regards to accepting refugees to Poland was that they were recently known for refusing to accept refugees who arrived through Belarus. That's all.blazing_saddles said:

To have been discussing a possible invasion for weeks but seemingly not have given any thought to the possibility of refugees wanting to come to the UK is not good enough. The actual f***ing immigration minister suggesting people make use of the seasonal worker scheme as an escape route from a war just beggars belief.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! As mentioned above, knocking them out of SWIFT doesn't make cross border payments impossible, it makes them more difficult and costly.rick_chasey said:

Get let out. Sometimes they give them a criminal record.mrb123 said:Does anyone know what actually happens to all the people arrested in Russia at the anti-war protests. Are they all banged up indefinitely in a jail somewhere or do they let them out the next morning?
They’re not nice places to stay overnight. Russians don’t believe in human rights so it’s pretty grim0 -

Joke currently doing the rounds is some Russian were deployed to a forrest, only to find themselves exposed as it had been illegally deforested0

But the sporting attitude to not caring how or where the money comes from is a bugbear of mine.
Newcastle don’t care. FIFA don’t care, uefa don’t care. IOC don’t care.
UCI have numerous unappealing races, F1 has trashed races with history in pursuit of races with startling budgets. The list goes on.5 -
FIFA are going to dance on the head of a pin with this. No one will play Russia in WC qualifiers.
As I sit here now my guess is that Russia will qualify by default, because, well it's FIFA and FIFA are politically neutral and morally non-existent. And this will create a huge headache in Qatar, which is a sports washing exercise itself, because the conflict will still be going on.0 -
True story my grandfather played football for Holland but got dropped because he refused to play against the nazis (before the war)
Spent the entire occupation in hiding and so gave up going to uni.
Got the news clippings somewhere. This “sports washing” stuff isn’t new0
