You’d have thought the special forces of all major nato players are already causing trouble for the Russians no? Or the stakes too high?

I wasn't really thinking about whether he was successful, more what his aims are...

Honestly I think he will go as far as he can before he is stopped.

Do you think he'll be stopped internally rather than internationally though? Even he needs enough backing at home to keep this going and whilst he has all those he made wealthy they aren't going to be happy if they lose access to 'their' money. I guess we'll never know the appetite of his military commanders for these fights.

Not sure if I'm reading that right as I seem to be seeing it differently to you. Aren't they just saying if you're here already we're going to let you stay longer? I don't think it is anything about who they are prepared to allow in going forward.
They’re announcing this because they’re not announcing what they should be, which is visa waivers for all Ukrainians and routes to help refugees.

Are they or are you just making assumptions?
    As of yesterday.

"The UK has stopped accepting visa applications from Ukrainians stuck in the country, meaning there is no safe and legal route for them to seek asylum in Britain unless they have British relatives."

More could be done to help.
Fair enough, in that case I agree it's a disgrace although with this Government you wouldn't expect anything else. Hopefully we'll take our share of refugees but I won't hold my breath.
Poland - Poland - is doing more for war refugees than us at the moment.
I would expect that to be the case at this juncture.
They were notably less welcoming to the last bunch of refugees that turned up. I get that Ukraine is their next door neighbour but it's still a notable contrast.
It sounds as if you think that two wrongs would be the more appropriate option.

Abramovich has issued a statement saying he's handed the care and stewardship of Chelsea to the charitable foundation and trustees to try to protect the club.

    Diddums.
    What a pathetic response, Rick.
Whatever rumoured links he has to Putin, at least he's trying not to drag his football club down, and cause yet more upset.

The iSsue you have is that he still controls the club through a convoluted structure where he controls a company in the virgin islands that is owed 1.5 billion by an intermediary company. A real sanction would be to pass the ownership to th UK government until a buyer can be found and h can sing for his 1.5 billion loan. This is window dressing at best and the UK public are stupid enough to think that he has lost anything.

Should force him to sell it within 6 months, hard firesale territory, in Sterling and then lock up that money until he can prove he has no connections to Putin and he bought it with legitimate and not stolen or laundered money.

No male refugees. Very old school. No chat about that here either.

What do you expect from mobilisation? It’s not voluntary. It’s an existential war for the nation - every able man fights.

This is old school behaviour from Russia.
What do the women do? Hand out white feathers to the men not fighting?
    Plenty have signed up.

It’s just not compulsory. What would you rather?
I just find it odd that you are outraged that Ukrainian women can't fly direct to London to claim asylum, but you appear to have no concerns about Ukrainian men who can't even leave the country.

What would I rather? Voluntary for all.
Not gonna win a war like this like that.

It’s sh!t for everyone. And bluntly, it’s not the place to worry about gender equality.
I disagree. If you are fighting for a democracy part of that is the freedom to leave.
Our (UK's) refugee policy is within our sphere of influence though. How Ukraine decides to defend itself is less so.
This is true, but it's possible to be outraged about anything, so I don't think spheres of influence need to be factored in to the outrage. For example, no one can control Putin at the moment, but it is reasonable to be outraged by his behaviour.

You’d hope so. I have genuinely no idea how much of a grip he has on power and the potential threats.

It would almost certainly have to come from his camp as he has destroyed all opposition and so I think, to offer a barely informed guess it’s pretty unlikely.

What I meant by “as far as he is stopped” was more where his armies will be stopped.

I’d love to think that five hard as nails Scotsmen from 23 Squadron SAS with 70’s porn moustaches all nicknamed ‘Jock’ are currently rigging up demolitions on a bridge deep in Ukraine, but if anything they’re organising logistics.

Intriguing site that. Another snap image where one tanker been looping in Polish airspace adjacent to that border for ages, leaving with another arriving.

LAGER and NACHO are the call signs for American tankers based at Mildenhall (their other call sign is QUID - oh those Yanks and their sense of humour). They will be there to tank NATO fighter jets and the surveillance aircraft. I know from following recent movements that a lot of US jets have been forward based in Poland and Romania. They’re 100% not there to strike into Ukraine, more they are there as a ‘don’t f@cking think about it Putin’ move.

I follow a lot of self proclaimed Ukrainian war reporters too but they only report on Russian losses and Ukrainian success - but you get a sense about where the battles are. They’re a bit more in land than they were yesterday

Not what I meant at all. Just that we could do better with regard to people wanting to get out of Ukraine. Otherwise, raising the 🇺🇦 over Parliament is a bit of a hollow gesture.

Really? With how he accumulated his wealth I won’t be shedding any tears.
So you'd be happy for the club, staff and players to suffer due to Russia's invasion?
Yes. Yes I would. Similar to the Qatari World Cup. Reap what you sow. No sympathy.

Should your club have ceased to exist when it went bankrupt leaving debtors?
Happened to my club. Not that it's important.
