I would imagine that Ukrainians have a good supply of jokes going round.0 -

There are suggestions Prigozhin’s aim at Rostov-On-Don is to capture Russia’s southern command and all the weapons, equipment and supplies that are stored there (a lot of it). It’s all totally nuts!0

The Death Putin Twitter account is one to watch today.

I guess when regular Russian army started shelling them they knew they were dead, regardless, so might as well try and get some leverage.
They’re all as bad as each other. Here’s hoping they f@ck each other up.
I doubt it’s the beginning of the end of the war, but here’s hoping0 -

It certainly all seems to be happening there. Can't think that Ukraine won't want to take advantage of Putin's scrambling to save himself.

Getting very interesting - surely the regular Russian forces if largely already committed to Ukraine are going to struggle to fight on another front? Hopefully a big opportunity for the UAF while this is happening."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

Does it give Putin an opportunity to leave Ukraine?
Obviously a bruising one but a legitimate withdrawal to focus internally is a slightly less embarrassing climb down than defeat.
I am well aware this is a huge dose of wishful thinking on my part but you never know.
What I do know is the current state of affairs is far from where Putin expected to be by now.0 -
Just listening to a Times Radio thing on YouTube (weird watching radio, but they do have some good journalists doing it) with a commentator saying there aren't actually all that many troops actually still in Russia.
It sound kind a worst case scenario, in that Putin needs Wagner's numbers to slow the counter offensive in Ukraine and doesn't have them, and needs the Russian army's numbers to slow Wagners offensive in Russia and doesn't have them.
Early reports that the Russian army in Rostov are being passive while they wait to see what happens?0 -
It may depend on how serious a threat Wagner becomes over the coming days and weeks. If Wagner poses a direct threat to his survival (political or otherwise) then he will likely prioritise that over Ukraine. In any event, I reckon this represents a much bigger diversion of his military resources than any Ukrainian tactics could achieve so fingers crossed the UAF can capitalise on this decisively.morstar said:Does it give Putin an opportunity to leave Ukraine?

Let's hope both Putin and Priozhin meet unpleasant ends as a result of this."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

It wouldn't be surprising if cannon-fodder troops were pragmatic about the most likely course of action for them not to die.0 -
Maybe someone could tell Putin he can hide on a small submersible in the Atlantic? Will take ages to find him."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

The only trouble is that if he needs someone to operate the thing, Putin would insist on a very long vessel, and that might implode. Oh dear, how sad.

Not exactly a sign of being in control. I think Ukrainians will definitely be amused that the war seems to have moved into Russia, and that the three days Putin thought he needed to take Kiev could now be how long it takes for Moscow to fall from his control.

Don't think anyone wants him in power. Best outcome is that they destroy themselves with infighting and allow the Ukrainians to capitalise big time.rick_chasey said:He’s no ally of Ukraine either this Wagner guy.

Ha, I'm not the only one to spot the irony.

Also interesting that Veronezh is about half way between Rostov and Moscow. Putin must be sweating a bit."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

Doesn't this mean the end of the war in Ukraine? Presumably Wagner troops have pulled back and Russian ones will have to follow.0

I guess that we will know in the next few days if Ukraine is taking full advantage, though I suspect that news might not get out as quickly as things move on the ground... it might be that Ukraine will want to do a lot of stuff without letting on what that is.0 -
This would be an interesting twist if true - Wagner perhaps using the 'cover' of Ukraine to prepare for dethroning Putin.

It's plausible. Wonder if Putin is getting his escape plane to South America, Middle East (or somewhere that will have him) ready and the US are thinking about a 'Zero Dark Thirty' type operation. We can dare to dream...briantrumpet said:This would be an interesting twist if true - Wagner perhaps using the 'cover' of Ukraine to prepare for dethroning Putin.

Looks like they've already left for St Petersburg or similar.

Let's hope Tendar's prediction comes true. It's hard to see how they can function in Ukraine at all now, with no leadership and, I suspect no new cannon fodder or ammunition. Open goal for Ukraine on all fronts, I would have thought.
