^ Definitely a 'lonely tree'. I bet these trees are much older than they look.
The birstlecone pines in the States only grow for thousands of years in very poor soil.

Just Googled. The oldest being 4765 years old but possibly up to 9000.

    FTFY
Very alkaline soils high in calcium magnesium carbonate.

    Just Googled.

Back to the mizzle, but it does leave a tonal quality.

Just passing the time on the TGV to Paris... here's one I did through the bus window with my mobile... and another one, not through a window...

A theological postcard snap whilst out on my ride, sun behind me and couldn't see the screen at all:

Ah, this was the first take, and conveys *exactly* what I wanted it to about this road and the weather on my glorious last day of the Easter hol...

I do love sunny days when all plane trails (contrails) can't take a hold of the sky.

This evening's work... a pile of Glenn Miller big band music on my 1934 Olds Super Trumpet (made in Los Angeles, with a hand-engraved 'tone ring').

    Some nice sunset colours yesterday…

It's ages since I've had a corker like that.

I’ve had a couple of reasonable ones, but things have never really aligned. On the beach, I prefer an outgoing tide, leaving the beach wet for reflections. Another time I had a lens malfunction (snapped ribbon cable I think) leaving all shots soft with the aperture stuck wide open and overexposed. Ultimately, though, things have looked promising then just fizzled out.

Yes, tulips are always a good standby at this time of year... I was surprised how well my cheap phone caught the red of this one at work:

    ^That looks great!
Nice with the sun hitting the grasses, white sand and interesting clouds.

Thanks. I just saw it and it just seemed to have it all. There's a also strong L->R wind blowing which is more visible in the full resolution pic, producing wrinkles on the sand and her bracing into it.

Was going to go chasing a glimpse of the northern lights after seeing some superb shots from the area last night but decided the likely reward to hassle was too low. I guess I’ll never make it as a photographer with that attitude!

Trying some night shots just now in the hope of catching some colour.
A clear night but totally unproductive. Meh.

Edit:- Got one shooting star. Not what I was looking for but hey, making lemons. 🤣
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Most disappointing and only worth sharing for the curious.

The joy of trying to focus when you can't actually see anything in the viewfinder! I do like trying my hand at astro landscape stuff. I'm hoping for clear skies in June when I'm in Cornwall to see what I can get, I now have an intervalometer so hope to be able to try some image stacking.

We also booked a cruise last night going to Norway in November so fingers crossed for some northern lights shots then without having to drive 20 miles to a dark sky area on the off-chance.

@briantrumpet : can you get some better contrasting bicycles with a bit more aestheticism and colour?
