Most disappointing and only worth sharing for the curious.

The joy of trying to focus when you can't actually see anything in the viewfinder! I do like trying my hand at astro landscape stuff. I'm hoping for clear skies in June when I'm in Cornwall to see what I can get, I now have an intervalometer so hope to be able to try some image stacking.

We also booked a cruise last night going to Norway in November so fingers crossed for some northern lights shots then without having to drive 20 miles to a dark sky area on the off-chance.
Focussing wasn't the issue. Or shouldn't be as I manually focussed on the moon first. The relative distances should apply. 😉 It is more likely the earth's rotation as I manually exposed for 30 seconds (timed on a tripod) at f1.8 and used ISO for exposure correction.
I'm sure I read somewhere that 20 secs is the sweet spot for astro photography but I forgot. 🤬
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

@briantrumpet : can you get some better contrasting bicycles with a bit more aestheticism and colour?

Sorry, when it comes to my bikes, it does seem to be B&W.

A series of photos taken in Suva central, Fiji's capital, during a Friday morning rush hour*.

*By our standards. There was 10x the traffic at lunchtime.

    Top one is Lochnagar.
Next one is descending to Loch Etchachan from Ben Macdui.
Bottom one is view back up Glen Ey to Beinn Iutharn Mhor.

A huge bank of sea mist rolling in over the hills.
    Sea mist
An area of ancient woodland with thick moss covered rocks and gnarly oaks. It would’ve been magical if some of that mist had entered the woods. Plenty of failures, but this turned out as I wanted (minus any mist). Desaturated as the mosses looked too vivid green.
    woodland.

    Love those mossy boulders.

I swear that this 700-year-old temptress was flirting with me yesterday when I took her photo...

Nice one Brian, mirrorlike. I tried myself, close, but there literally were dark clouds on the horizon (again).

I see they plastered the make-up on back then too.

It was fleeting - only about a 10-minute window from lots of clouds to none, and then another lot at the horizon blotted out the sun completely.

Was going to go out later to get them in my local woods around sunset. I’d been waiting for a sunny evening now I’ll just look like a copycat!
