Nice one PB. Those offshore breezes always make the waves look good.1

The full wetsuit gives the game away that is was quite chilly to say the least!
Not as good a shot but barefoot. Better feel but I can't comprehend how cold it would be.

I usually try to avoid having people in my photos but went out to catch the Skirrid fell race today, very entertaining watching the revised course where they had to descend the 50% slope that it used to climb (I've done it once myself!). Taking a photo into the sun from the summit was a challenge but it's the best summit in the area for a panoramic view.

There is no good or bad, only personal taste. They look like the colourcast Kodaks from the 80s but in reality it is simply low winter light mixed with autumn colour foliage.Pross said:
Is that good or bad? They do look like they've had a filter applied, I did change a few settings as it was hard getting the exposure right and they were also a bit too warm.pblakeney said:^^^ Colours are so 80s! ^^^
If it's not to your taste then a cooler colour balance is required. Plus, only those there know how it looked to human eyes.
As an example, quick edit only to show a point. Even my auto colour balance left it alone.

On that one you couldn’t actually see anything with the naked eye. I put my filter on but had to have it on its minimum setting. Was quite pleased to managed to get something out of it. The race pics are pretty close to reality, lots of brown bracken around and fairly dull grey skies, auto adjust on the software I use for Sony RAW files made everything far to much in the warm / red end of the hue scale so I turned them back down to how I recalled them looking. As usual my iPhone coped with the light better than my camera. These are straight from the phone.

It's strange but camera auto settings don't seem to cope well with extremes while phones do. No answer but with shooting RAW at least you have the ability to adjust to taste.
Filters can upset things too. I've learned when using a polariser to take a test shot and adjust from there. With Nikon I find that centre metering is more accurate than Matrix (auto) metering, if that makes sense. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

What a difference elevation makes! A trip up the hills to a reservoir.
I like the effect of the tree shadows on the snow.

They say a successful photo holds the viewer for more than 2 seconds. I'm still looking...what/where is that?briantrumpet said:Dusty girders

Slightly concerned that anyone on here has taken exposed selfies. 😉Pross said:

Suspension job, done. Wash and wax, done. @pinno as you can see below, the collinite worked well. Sorry Brian, maybe for the car thread, but here is a pic
Right, that sounds like my 8 minute vegan stereotype alarm, so off to don my tie-dye, light some joss sticks and scented candles ready for a long mindfulness session to clear my mind from the constant worry… does that car wax have any animal derivatives in it?

A couple of experiments (kinda work, I think), and one that includes my smoking chimney and a 6,600ft mountain as a casual backdrop. Don't think I'm going to get any more snow this time, more's the pity (as it's fun to photograph), though that's better for the prospect of riding my bike up them thar hills.

Nice long hike with the hound and an old school friend around Talybont today. Absolutely stunning, get very wet feet though as the one 2 mile stony path was a full on stream.

You should try waxing your baubles, Brian.
Another roof top view.

It's someone else's baubles that need waxing and a thorough buffing.0 -
Making the most of an 'atmospheric' (i.e., very grey) day... you'll have to excuse my attempt to blend into a fantastic trompe l'oeil
