This weather is so much better. Sunrise over the frosty Roman barracks in Caerleon, the only visible remains of a legionary barracks in Europe apparently. Classic case of building the foundations to activate the planning consent and then not finishing the development, this was possibly due to the great financial crisis that followed the catstrophic decision to leave the Roman Empire.

They voted leave. Was it a 52/48 split?0

^Very nice.^The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Thanks PB. For a change I took notice of where all the reflections were and put them more or less where I wanted them, rather than looking at the photo back at home and thinking "Drat!"pblakeney said:^Very nice.^

How many times have you set that sort of thing up, stepped back, framed the shot, only to watch your bike slowly topple into some muddy seawater?briantrumpet said:

Haha. I'm rather careful by muddy water, and even more so by précipices françaises. But yes, otherwise I have set up similar and a gust of wind or lack of traction on the rear tyre has intervened, sometimes more than once, which must amuse anyone watching me being thwarted. Once or twice I've given up.1 -

Soz mate but the beading isn't that good.masjer said:Suspension job, done. Wash and wax, done. @pinno as you can see below, the collinite worked well. Sorry Brian, maybe for the car thread, but here is a pic
Try rapid Ceramic.
Must find those pics on the Porker after a waxing... although I had a memory card which when it came out of my camera, had somehow erased about 300 pics...

I say, that's a bit personal!0 -
Trying to catch the sweet spot when the sun's up but hasn't melted the frost... annoyed that the wren's not quite in focus...

They're ace, Brian.
I've been trying out the astrophotography setting. You won't see anything on the image below, but follow the link to see how much you can see from suburban South London.

I really ought to borrow some kit to do some astrophotography when I'm in the French house... there's virtually no light pollution once the street lights go out at 11pm, and it's stunning.... nearest big town/city is 60km away, and nearly all of the villages these days don't run streetlights overnight.0

I need another clear night to try a couple of apps on my iPhone that allow exposure settings for astrophotography. My previous phone did an OK job although I never got a chance to try it properly.0

Messing about with the macro option on the phone3 -
Not my photos but fair play to the (amateur) photographer at the cross country race I did yesterday who spent and an hour squatted down in the water jump (they had to break the ice before the race) to get photos like these

Theses treeses were disappointing colour-wise in the autumn, but they were nice as skeletons today:

I thought the middle one was a tiger at first glance. It looks like it would have been a poster in Athena back in the day.Tashman said:0 -
A bit of a monochrome but very crisp morning on today's dog walk so tried a few frost macros although the mist did start to break up towards the end. Always impressed by what a phone can achieve these days.

I tried a different angle/lighting for some trumpet p0rn, and I'm quite pleased with it for a first attempt. (In case you're wondering what type of trumpet it is, it's a trumpet in 'orchestral F', i.e. half as long again as a standard Bb trumpet, and it's got rotary valves, which are more common on trumpets in Eastern Europe, Vienna, etc. This trumpet was made for me about twenty years ago.)

It took a few goes to get the autofocus to home in on the right bit, but it did a good job when it did, catching the contre jour lighting on a magnolia bud... spring's on the way...
