Bit worried if they don't shorten the race, we will end up with some seriously ill people out on the road, I just can't see them doing the full distance and not being overheated0
-
Big pile up 3k in apparently.
Probably not caused by spectators0 -
Qatar paid $10m to host, double the usual price.
Apparently Tony Martin rode the ITT faster than 9 of the TTT teams
Italy win the ladies U23 RR - Elisa Balsamo.0 -

Pedant alert....Womens Junior RR, not U23...no Womens U23 races at the Worlds, much to some irritation0 -
Oh sorry. I presumed it would be the other way around?0

Nah. Gap in U23 Womens races has been an ongoing issue. This year the UCI introduced the first U23 Womens CX comp at the Worlds in Zolder (won by Evie Richards) . It will surely end up extending to the road, but not there yet0 -
Is the mens race live on TV at all - can't see it in the listings - is it a red button job ?[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

I haven't researched it, but I presume so.0 -

I don't really understand Qatar's obsession with hosting sporting events. The locals seem ambivalent, so perhaps it is to draw in tourists, but they look to host everything. They had the 100km road race recently which is hardly a well known event.coriordan wrote:Apparently Tony Martin rode the ITT faster than 9 of the TTT teams
That is quite amusing although I wonder if it reflects a lack of effort from a lot of teams.0 -

Or different wind conditions0 -

There were only 10 WT teams, the rest were Conti - with the exception of CCC Sprandi
Not really that surprising. Pretty sure there's been a similar factoid re Tony Martin's ITT time vs TTT teams times before.0 -
Friebe in the podcast
"<sigh> I felt the world's <deep sigh> championship time trial this year really had the setting that event deserves....very atmospheric...an atmosphere becoming of the spectacle itself....no fans....no trees....no vegetation...no nothing. Nothing of any real interest"“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

@cyclingbetting is worth a follow on twitter. He does excellent previews and retweets mostly interesting/amusing bits and sometimes tweets updates of races which aren't televised.
I think he did some pretty good predictions on the ITT results.0 -
Gotta love this guy

Body temperature went up to 40 degrees.
Doesn't remember anything about the finish. But I guess it's OK 'cos drugs wouldn't help .

Thanks RR. Got it up. How many entrants? I see about 30-40 on the road and a 3 man breakaway. French guy poured most of his bottle down his back/legs. Must be excruciating.
USA rider on the recalled S-Works Vias.
What was that the French guy just did with a sponge or something?0
