Sweeeeeet. Do you have a secret polishing technique or is it just lots of Solvol and elbow grease?

    Spinach, Popeye, spinach.

Metal file to take off the casting seams and accident damage 350 grade wet n dry followed by 600 then 1000 copious amounts of liquid are essential I usually choose red wine although beer might do if it's hot and then a quick rub down with Autosol, avoid spinach on aluminium save it for chrome polishing :D

Oh and plenty of time, a hammock, sunshine etc

Well that's piddled on my 'wind MF up' chips.

It took me 5 hours to polish a set of Chorus cranks once. Same method of abrasive reduction except I used soap with my wet and dry - ordinary hard hand soap. Do you use that?

I use soap with wet n dry on the car on paint/between coats as it stops the paper clogging with paint dust.

Lemon juice on aluminium is good, just rub a fresh cut lemon over the surface to remove oxidation, and a pickled Gerkin with a side slice slid over a chain removes the oil.

I've just a 1/4 of a Shimano crank with Solvol, an old towel and a glass of rose. Took 15 mins and after a bottle of wine and two segments of Back To The Future it looks like it's got potential.

Well, with two sequels, a multi award winning cast and an almost classical status in modern cinema history, I would edge my bets on more than just potential.

The cranks themselves can just sit semi polished on the workbench for the next17 years or so......

And post delivery number 2...a pair of NOS 70's brake cables, including noddy plastic ferrules, I will lose those, all I need to do is to get some intensive uv rays to that plastic to age them, no probs :D

The thing is T47, I can't picture the Mrs T47 on a step through with a wicker basket on the front wearing a flowery summer dress. She seems ore like a 'burn your bra' Germaine Greer type.

Looking seriously sweet - so much better than my new Basso Ascot I got for nothing today, but that's another story for another thread ......

Estimated time until she's finished? Will the basket hold baguette/small puppy/flowers?

    Hang on, hang on....

    Sunshine. Check.

    Cobbled floor. Check.

Things that look suspiciously like my tomato plants. Check.

Same bike stand as mine. Check.

Are you sure you aren't at my house? If so, do you mind finishing the beautiful Peugeot/Vitus machine for me?

No of course not. Just long elegant fingers.

Will do the Basso this weeken d - it's looking like a shed and the forks and shot (the legs are well bent ov to one side - one for the skip).

Probably keep it as a very, very long termed: get it re sprayed in the Celeste/fluoro Orange standard colors it currently is, get some forks sorted, take it from there.

Vitus is at a friend's place so that may be next week.I'll see what I have on the 'phone though - Defoe nothing showing the lovely butting/tubing though.
