    Guesswork time!
Assuming it's a man, I can only think of one rider that fits. And it would be pretty gutting.

Probably best not to mention any names.

Mail story doesn't specify sex or the event they were world champ at. It could also be utter cobblers story.

I take that back - the Mail says its a bloke...down at the bottom when it's talking about contacting his father for comment.

British Cycling confirms one of its riders accused of "a potential anti-doping rule violation". Doesn't name cyclist. More soon.

And not-Sky. Assuming all the other things are true that narrows it to a field of 1. And gutting if true.

Doubt he would have started Romandie if that was the case.

According to Daniel Benson, Sky have said it's definitely not one of their riders.

Which leaves Simon Yates as the prime candidate.

McLay isn't a former world track champ though (unless we're counting juniors). Cummings was the other option, but he didn't ride in France at all this year.

I wonder if Orica will pull Adam from Yorkshire tomorrow, just to protect him.

That's gutting if true, but at least it wasn't Cummings or Thomas (man-love for both of them)

The shit has really hit the fan over the last few days!

    Disappointed if it's accurate.

Story will be about British Cycling and bringing Team Sky into it, but questions have to be asked about OGE - they are starting to get a bit of a whiff about them over the last couple of years.

I thought it might be Stannard initially as he dropped out of Romandie.

Adam was the one who seemed to make a huge jump from nowhere at l'Avenir that year. Unfairly it's going to be even harder to lose that impression now. This sucks in many ways.

Shiiiit - yeah. if I'd put two and two together there that would have been even worse. No real affinity for either of the Yates' for some reason, so if it's possible to be 'relieved' at finding out who it was I suppose I am. It's in the Mail though, so quite possible it's bullsh1t and they've got a story out of a bio passport anomaly and spun it to increase the hysteria over the Sutton debacle. Witness the laughable detail in their photo of the Cervelos on eBay earlier:
