25c ones on Pacenti SL23 clear fine, actually better than the 2012 CAAD10 I had them on before.

My budget hi mod evo is nearing completion and just need to source the BB and wheels.

Can anyone point at the correct praxis PF BB or alternative (46mm shells)?
    thanks

I still hate my front mech.

Anyhow, stuck the hammer down today. These things are quite quick.

  • After jumping on the high mod offer that Paul's cycles had in January I've finally had this built up for a couple of weeks now. I kept an eye out for good deals (PlanetX had a full DA group set and saddle for £799) so the budget was looking good. Well it was until I said stuff it and got some DA hubs built onto LB rims :D

Before anyone says anything yes it's a sram red chainset but it's got a stages pm on it (got a cracking deal on it so I sold the DA chainset to fund it) All in with peddles, Garmin mount and bottle cages it comes just a whisker under 7kg. How does it ride ? Absolutely sublime 8)

Gorgeous. How a race bike should look. Great colour way too. I have a CAAD X but it's not in the same league as this.

I'm not great at getting it set up properly. So I need to use the trim more than I'd like. I reckon I can get the LBS to make it perfect but it's just not as easy as SRAM Yaw.

6800 front mech setup: Pig Ignorant Culchie method.

The wee pin goes on position 1 for a SS or a CAAD10. You will need an in-line adjuster. You can make it work, but it's a pain that's just not worth the quids one will cost. Install it wound out about a quarter way. The new Shimano front mechs like a fair bit of cable tension.

Obviously, slack off the cable fully at the shifter, bolt the mech on in accordance with the sticker and ensure it's dead straight to the rings.

Now, wedge the mech "out" with a book or something so it's covering the big ring. Route the cable through the bolt and pull it hand tight with a pair of pliers in your good hand. Cinch up the bolt with the other. Remove your wedge. The mech spring should pull it back into the correct position, or very near. Tweak the front mech in with the 3rd biggest sprocket selected on the rear. Set the limit screws. From my experience, this will give you the top 9 gears of the cassette in the big ring without trim, which should be enough.

Why not just bung one of these on there and forget about trim completely.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SRAM-Rival-22 ... 1572756774

There's a section of road near us, on an Industrial Estate, with possibly the worst road surface known to man. It's diabolical. And a brilliant test bed. I took my Alfa Mito there once to see if it rattled. Amazingly, for a 3 yr old Alfa, it held up brilliantly.

My otherwise sublime Ritchey Swiss Cross on 28c GP4000ii crashed through the entire length. My XLS on 35c G-One is merely ok.

Supersix on 100 psi 25c Schwalbe One and stock Aksium S. Magic carpet.

  • Fine weather today has given me an itchy trigger finger so I'm ordering all the extras for my frame this afternoon.

Im going down the Shimano and praxis converter route with Fizik everything else.

Roads over here are nothing like Bender describes, my current ride is a Madone and that feels super smooth on 23c GP4000s II so I'm expecting this to be sublime.

Thought I had the notorious BB30 creak on Friday when I took the long way home, it was making a right racket every time I went uphill and put a bit of power down.
Got up and started cleaning it at 7.30 on Sat morning, looking at the beautiful day approaching ruing my misfortune, before the shop opened that I was due to take it to and it miraculously went away !
Turns out it was just the cassette that was loose
So I got 22miles in on Friday and 40 each Sat and Sun and weather looks good for at least the next week.
Taking it to Majorca in 38 days and can`t wait 8)

60 sunny if windswept and interesting miles through the Mourne and Cooley mountains, including a local climb of nasty repute, that goes from literal sea level to 240 metres in 3km, but in sawtoothed steps, kicking up into the high teens/low twenties in gradient. The surface is best described as present, mostly. I'm banjaxed tired now, but not feeling any discomfort at all.

What a lovely bike it is, really.

Tyre clearance advice. I have the 2015 105 6Evo and I need tyres. The Lugano's that came with it are falling apart after 400 miles. How is clearance? I will be sticking with the RS11 wheels for now.

To my eye the 25mm Lugano's look a little narrow. I have read that GP4000's won't fit in a 25 and the same goes for Michelin's. Any advice? At this rate I'm likely to go with Schwalbe One's but the Lugano's are crap enough to put me off slightly.

    Someone put me off please.

Super tempted by Campagnolo Bullet 50. But, head says just get Shamal Ultra.

Other head says just get some Zonda.

    Thoughts.

See, I come here for help and, well..............

It's tricky isn't it. Bling and weight v Cult Bearings and normality. Obviously both attract 10% off at CRC and paypal 0%.

What about the campagnolo shamal mille (aka fulcrum zero nites)??
The nites are incredible in looks and performance.

Bit more expensive but man would they make your SSE look nice!

Hmm, some reviews of the Bullets say they're a bit dead. Don't fancy that.

Mille should be ok. Anyone know the rim width?

    20.5mm iirc.

I loved my fulcrum zero nites. I miss my fulcrum zero nites.

*edit, according to this well known bike shop :? They are 20.5
