Did Canyon messed up real good in the UK too ?

My mate's Ultimate CF that was supposed to arrive last week has been delayed by two weeks. Now end of March but I doubt they will stick to the delivery date. He might have it by the summer if he's lucky. Saw quite a few Canyons yesterday on the sportive I was doing. Nice bikes but there are plenty of other options out there which are much more readily available. Perhaps Canyon need to look at the likes of Ribble and PX and how they operate their businesses. Different economies of scale but at least they deliver what they promise.0

Canyon Ultimate CF SLX mechanical frameset ordered at beginning of November, originally with an end of Jan delivery date.
The delivery date was quite quickly changed to the end of April. Last week it was put back to the end of July.
Order cancelled.
Simply not acceptable to wait almost 9 months for a frame. It's ironic that July is almost the time when Canyon will start to advertise their bikes for the following year.0 -
So when the CEO says they're all sorted now he's clearly still talking bollocks.
Talk about compounding the error....Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -
How can it take so long to put bike together? If they are struggling to this extent why not send out the frame sets and components and let customers build their own bikes and perhaps offer a discount for the inconvenience? This company is a joke. My mate was going to opt for a mechanical Dura Ace version of the Ultimate CF but the delivery date they quoted him was August so he went Di2 instead for a March delivery (allegedly) . How can the same bike with different components have a 6 month difference in lead time?0

Just an update, I have finally snapped.
Spoke with canyon this morning and the delivery of the ultimate CF SLX has been put back yet again. I was told they have further 'unexpected delays' and my order would be dispatched around the 2nd week in May.
So I have now requested the order be cancelled.
I have also put in a formal complaint.
Absolutely shocking service. And I'm totally pissed with myself for believing they would meet the delivery date... Why oh why didn't I follow the advice on here :oops:0 -
Dude. We've all been there.
It's just made worse by their CEO issuing mea culpa statements and then saying it's all sorted now.
It clearly isn't.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -

Yeah i know. I can't believe how bad things are with them. I mean to be quoting delivery in May for a bike ordered in Autumn 2015, wtf?!!!
Question now is what do i get instead?? :?0 -
Ordered my endurace in December. Told it will arrive last week of april. Not filled with much hope of it arriving as planned based on comments above.0

I'm sure if you put up your budget, your riding experience, and what you want from the bike, you'll get plenty of helpful suggestions!0 -

I am thinking of an S-Works Tarmac, as it was a close call between that and the Canyon in the first place.
My budget is 4k and all i want is something light, stiff and raceable.
I do the majority of my training in the hills of Mid Wales, so not concerned with the bike being aero, although given that most races appear to be on flat courses then i will consider aero models.
I have just been looking at the Supersix Evo, or the Focus Izalco as well as the spesh. However, ideally i would prefer to avoid BB30 or PF30 bottom brackets, although i will consider any suggestions.
Would be very grateful for any recommendations.
Oh, just one DEFINITE requirement, NOT CANYON!!!0 -
Cervelo S5?0

I believe you may be entitled to compensation beyond a refund..
I'm looking in to this.0 -

I'm looking in to this.
With me they haven't taken the money, although my Credit Card does have the charge reserved on it apparently.
The bank are sorting this for me today though. At least that was the one decision i did get right with my Canyon order - paying by Credit Card!0 -
You may have suffered loss though. If you order a bike in the off-season at off season discounts and they fail to deliver and you are left having to buy an alternative bike in peak season, then its likely you've missed out on various deals.
For example say a canyon xyz is RRP £3,000 and I order it in November for Jan delivery at £2,000
at the same time a specialized xyz is rrp £3,000 and the November price £2,300, I now go back in April to buy my Specialized xyz, which I can't get for less than £2,900 - I'm £600 down, due to Canyon's delays.
In normal contract law this would be reasonable, unless terms said otherwise (i.e. consequential losses on- yer bike)
Trouble is there are several leaps you'd need to establish beyond demonstrating a loss
firstly Sale of goods act has been replaced with consumer rights act and its early days
second, you'd have to establish that UK law trumped german law for the consumer contract - reasonably easy
In any case - you have a right to treat a contract as at an end if the goods aren't delivered within 30 days, unless otherwise agreed. Them telling you its delayed isn't "agreement".
I'm slightly suspicious that they are targeting UK orders due to less favorable exchange rates. Its very suspicious that delivery dates are slipping post brexit date.0 -
I still can't get my head around how they have messed it up so badly.
They generally give about a 3 month delivery delay, then to delay another month or so, OK, fine.
But 2 or 3 months more delay than that?
Where are the bikes?
How long does it take to assemble one?
If the computer says 'no' can't you just go get the bike and build it, old school styley?!
Why have they been taking orders since Xmas?
Why are they still taking orders now?
It's just bizarre.0 -
Naively some companies think they can sell in advance of placing orders. A bit like crowd buying. They make up a small batch, sell, sell, sell, gather up a batch of commitments and place an order for a batch of product with their supplier manufactures under license. The bigger the commitment, the better deal they get. It all works fine until there is a problem.
Alternatively they've opted to specialise in sales, development and marketing and have just outsourced the whole manufacturer and delivery to their low cost supplier who can't cope.
Its almost certainly not about picking components, assembling them and shipping them.0 -
Whatever the issues, the claims made by the CEO were clearly inaccurate and none have been resolved.
To make matters worse I have been talking to a club mate this evening who placed an order for the same bike over a month after I did. He contacted them today and was told it is due to be processed and shipped on the 28th March! I warned him it won't be.
Really does seem they are making it up as they go along.0 -
i wonder if this time next year, they ll still be in business?0

I have an 2 x S Works Tarmacs, the SL4 and the SL'5'. I get on very well with them, but there are many excellent alternatives like Cannondale, Scott Foil, Trek Emonda, Cervelo R5. Personally I'd steer clear of Look or Time. Some of the new Wiliers look nice too.
Basically, go with whatever you like the look of best and that fits you well. (My only perogative was a low front end).0 -
Thanks mate. I have always wanted an S-Works but always talked myself out of it.
My LBS had some bargains on the frameset a few months back but they have all gone now
I am arranging a test ride on a Tarmac S-Works SL5 for next week though, so will go from there.
I am also looking at the Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi Mod.
Out of interest, have you suffered any issues with the OSBB on the S-works?0 -

No, it's been absolutely fine.
I use S-Works cranks which match the bike perfectly. They're very, very easy to whip out and regrease (I do that about every 3 months, takes 5 minutes).0 -
Holy crap! Cant believe the police havent been sent in to stop this company trading. No experience of Canyon myself (thank fff) but what they are doing cant really be legal.0
-
"The supply is always subject to availability. The purchase contract takes effect upon fulfilment by Canyon".
Nothing illegal. No commitment to ever deliver anything is made in their terms, so you are left with Sec 28, Consumer Rights Act 2015, which says if they don't deliver without delay, by the date agreed or within 30 days of the order, then the consumer may treat the contract at an end.
Canyon aren't actually taking your order until they say they are shipping the goods.0 -
What's the situation with canyon now? Have they sorted their crap out or are they still making people wait years for their bikes?0
